Dell optical mouse problem

I have a mouse thats been working perfectly up till today. The wheel and buttons still work, but when i move the mouse, the pointer on the screen doesnt move. I tried replugging it but still doesn't work. I think it has something to do with the led not reading anything because the red light dimmed down alot. Is this suppose to happen? Should i just get a new mouse, or is there a way to replace a battery or something inside the mouse? How long does the laser/led life usually last in this dell optical mouse?

Kyle93 you're a genious! I had already opened mine up and tweaked it (didn't help at all) I was rather afraid of touching the your solution, opened it up again and after pushing down on that white part and really securing the wire in those slots my mouse was back to normal! I also cleaned it of course..and the trick to putting it back together, notice the little slots where the clickers go, dip the top of the mouse down a bit and into those slots, match em up good (remember the divits are at like the top of the mouse clickers go into the divits on the bottom mouse part...hard to explain but you'll understand when you look at it..) put that screw back in and bam problem solved!

The same thing is currently happening too me` but im trying too configur the settings` the problem is inside` clean out the dirt dust but the cord runs around a couple of revs and just push it down a bit and make sure the main rev (white plug) is just pushed a bit down and secure now` putting it back together is harder`

Good mice are cheap. If you spend a little more you can get a much more comfortable mouse, or even a laser mouse as opposed to an LED. I suggest mice from Logitech or Microsoft. The cheap Dell mice they send with systems are not the best, we've had dozens of them fail here in the office.

Can't get it to work

If its a wireless GE mouse turn it on by pushing the button and hold till the red light comes on. Assuming the computer is running, press the Blue light on the Receiver and then press the button on the bottom of the mouse and it should start tracking on the monitor. Hope this helps. Bud
