Question about Air Conditioners

Leaking air conditioner

My window unit didn't leak at all last summer. This summer the condensation got so much that it leaked all over my carpet. Do I need to be doing something other than just attaching it to the window sill?

Thank you, Ross

Yes let it tilt out the wondow so it can drain outside and not inside it only needs a couple of inces to raise the face of the air cond up so it can drain outside

Hi, I have an air conditioner Frigidaire which is leaking in the front. The unit is in a window, in a 4th Floor and I don't have access to the back, how can I unclog the unit??. I am desperate!!!!

if it's just condensation leaking out the front of the unit it could be that the unit is not level in the window. If it's tilted too far into the room it will leak condensation into the room. Try to tilt it back just a hair so that the condensation leaks out the back of the unit.

My crosley air conditioner is leaking from the front. There in nowhere to drain it from the back. help

Hello, if this is a window unit make sure it is tilted back in the window about a 1/4 inch. If the unit does not have a drain then it uses the condenser fan blade to scoop up the condensate and splash the condenser to cool it and evaporate the condensate.

Water is draining into the house?.where is the drain?

Hello, the unit must be tilted back in the window to prevent the condensate from leaking inside. Some units will have a drain plug on the bottum, while others use the condenser fan to scoop up the condensate and splash the condenser to keep it cooler and evaporate the condensate.

Our A/C unit when running, the drain water isn now backing up and leaking over the side in our basement. we've never had this problem before.

Hello, this usually indicates a clogged condensate line or cracked condensate pan. Try using a wet/dry by attaching one end of it to the otlet of the comdensate line, the suction pressure should dislodge the clog. If the line appears clean the the pan is cracked and will require a technician to come out and fix it.

My frigidaire window unit is leaking into my house. I removed the unit to clean the coils, this didn't remedy the problem. It is properly tilted to the outside.

behind the dilter is the evapator and behind the evaperator and underneath is the pan that holds the condensate. look at the pan and see how dirty if it is then clean it . Check the evap coil to be certain it is clean . and double check that it is tilted enough . 1 inch or a bit more hope this help let me know

Unit is leaking underneath and onto my carpet....

Check your manufacturers warranty to establish warranty period and also Sam's customer service to see if they will support you. Hose and
connector need to be replaced to eliminate moisture. This can breed
mold if not properly addressed.

My lgl1006r is leaking from the back of ac is that normal????

This is completely normal for a window a/c unit. The purpose of the leaking is to leach the humidity from you home in the summer. When the house is hotter the air is inherently more humid. As warm air is passed over the condensors in the unit it turns into water and should drip out of the back of any air conditioner unit. It essentially turns into distilled water. Not a problem and don't worry! Enjoy the air!

We purchased a Whirlpool portable air conditioner in 2005 from Best Buy. Near the end of last summer the air conditioner started leaking water. We started using it again this season and it is still...

Check to see if the drain is blocked by particles/debris of any type. Also make sure that the unit is level--as level as possible. I have my Whirlpool Portable AC in 4 inch bed risers so I can drain it really easily. I slip under a small low rise pan and drain it every two days or so when it is running. Mine leaked when I tried to incline it backwards to make it drain faster. As soon as I leveled the unit the leak stopped and water again came out the hose. These units must be kept level to prevent leaks so now I always do that.
