Did you ever get your Sony Bravia fixed? Mine was one month out of warranty when I started getting the lines and distortion. Paid 1500 for it new and they say the part to fix is 1600 but Best Buy haven't come out and looked at it yet. Sounds like Sony needs to recall the tvs.

unfortunatly, horizontal lines on an lcd tv, almost always mean a bad lcd panel. if it is out of warranty, it will be really cost prohibitive to replace the panel. if the set is only a year old or so call sony customer support and ask for a concession for the part.

unfortunately it sounds like the electrical signal component of the tv is beginning to fail or was subject to a power surge, usually if you get dead pixels you will only get dots on the screen, if you get a dead inverter, it simply loses its backlight, so i would suggest it may have to go to a repairer.

I'm sorry, it sounds problem with lcd panel (screen) that is defective and causing lower half distorted image. If tv is under warranty then call number written on warranty documents for warranty cover or lcd panel (screen) replacement would cost you approx 80% of new tv price.

Unless it is spot on dead center of the set, you need to replace the LCD panel. In these models, the suspected TCON (time control) board might do the trick, but I've yet to have success with that board fixing a vertical line issue.

Hopefully you are still under manufacturer's warranty or have some kind of extended warranty, 'cause the price of that panel exceeds $1,500.00.

You could give a shout to Sony customer relations in the event you don't have a way to get the part paid for. Sony may ask that you pay for an estimate, in return for covering the part for you.

Depending where you got it It's probably still under warranty.I know Bestbuy usually offers 1 year free.My tv had red lines running through it and they said it was something to do with a climate part that they did not have so I was sent to pick out a new Tv.Good luck

Yes this thing start happening to my tv too about 4weeks ago and this goes away in about 15 minutes. TV is only 18 month old and I donot have extende warranty. Please post the solution if someone has got it repaired. Thanks

It's the panel. Mine took a sharp force trauma when it fell only 1 foot onto something very pointy (a cellular external antenna) and it looks like it got shot by a bb gun. And it has lines kind like what you are describing.

You can't fix an LCD tv with this kind of problem. You just can't. The LCD panel cost more than a new TV. I know I asked the local Sony Shop to just order me the LCD panel. It was over $900 on a $600 retail TV. I was going to replace it myself ... I fix laptops ... but not at that price. So far I'm just using it as it is, until I want to, and have the $$$ to buy another one.

(a laptop lcd panel repair costed over $300 by the way on a $600 laptop with a few years age on it. I did it mainly as a learning experience. But never again.)

This is an internal malfunction, deffinately use the warranty on it. If you decide to fix it yourself post again and I'll walk you through changing the LCD controller. Its not too challenging, but will require you to dismantle almost the entire tv.

Not common but electronics are electronics , we can have failures right out of the box. Generally Sony is reliable and I must say that you should not have to worry about cost , Is it not under warranty - its only 4 months old !!

If it still under warranty, no cost will be there, but if its out of warranty, you have to pay to Sony (might be they give you some discount) because its problem in LCD Panel.
