Laptops usualy have a button to export your display. You can click it by holding in the "fn" button that's located left from the windows button(usualy). When holding it you should look for a button with 2 squares (like a tv) thats normaly the F10 button. If you click it your screen goes black or comes back. Also check your driver, check if its updated(what windows do you have?)
When does the screen disappear? Is it when you start a program or just now and then? You can run programs or games in xp mode or you can adjust their screen settings because they might not be compatible with your driver/version of windows/...

Green screen laptop

Press the "Function" key along the top row of your keyboard to toggle an external display; this key is different on each manufacture's laptop. If the external display has the same problems, your computer's video card or software is the problem.

My other computer, G4 Macbook Pro, has a screen issue. When it is turned on and in process of coming up, the screen shows large sections of odd colors such as light pink or light green or light blue. Then...

Connect an external display to the computer. If the lines and distortion shows up on the external display its the video card, which is attached to the logic board. So, the whole logic board will need to be replaced.
If the lines and distortion don't show up on the external display the issue is the LCD module, which will need to be replaced.

Itunes music sounds distorted somtimes and not others

The fault is from your laptop speaker. I think it has a hole inside and maybe that's why it distorts. Or maybe the sound/volume is too loud and the speaker does not have the capacity.

I would advice you to get an external speaker for your laptop.

Take care.

Problem display with laptop

Hi,

I am giving you some steps, which will help you to determine where the fault lies. In this situation like yours, this is the best I can do. Please come back to me the result and I'll help you to resolve it.

- Whenever the distortion is occurring, fix it to an external monitor/TV (if you have such facility). If the distortion does not occur there, your display is gone.

- Check if the distortion occurs during booting. That is, before any drivers are loaded. You need to look carefully. If not, it may be a faulty driver. Sometimes, drivers malfunction due to conflicts with different applications. This can be an application you have recently installed.

- If distortion occurs during booting, it may be faulty graphics card. To check it further, you can take a bootable CD/DVD and boot from that, and see if the display is correct; if not, the graphics card is gone.

If your graphics card is an integrated one, you can't replace it, but you can send it for repairing.

Hope it helps. Do let me know.

Good Luck & Thanks,
Shiv.

Laptop Screen distorted.

Your LCD ribbon cable that connects the panel to the motherboard might be damaged. I recommmend calling HP to get it serviced, or go to your local computer repair shop and have look at it. Hope this helps!

Freezing then blank screen

Have you tried pressing F8 on boot-up and log into safe mode under administrator, no password, and right click on any empty space on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on settings, select a lower resolution,( e.g. 1024X768 ) select apply, select ok, reboot, log in as normal
