I have a 2420 displaying 53.07 and won't clear with power down. Checked fan with covers off and the fan starts until the error appears. Is there a re-set procedure to clear the error or is the controller toast?

Re: hp 2420 displays 53.07
The 53.07 error relates to Memory. Turn the printer off. Remove the right side cover. Remove any and all DIMM (memory) cards and printer/network cables from the formater board. The memory DIMMS are located behind the metal cover. Remove any Jetdirect Cards installed into the EIO slot on the back of the formatter.
With all accessories removed power up the printer and see of it comes to ready. If not, you need a formatter board. If it does come to ready, power it off and plug one peice that you removed back in and try again. Keep adding one at a time and powering up again until the error returns. When you get the error, the last added back onto the machine is the problem.

Does it give a 49.FF95? As their is no such error code "FF95" for a HP 2420. However I've seen 49. XXXX error codes before (XXXX meaning weird Alphanumeric Characters and numbers). This type of error code you can try a couple of Items: 1st - Perform a Cold Reset: 1. Turn the printer off. 2. Hold down the SELECT button, and then turn the printer on. Continue holding down the SELECT button until all three printer control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds. 3. After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press the UP ARROW button or the DOWN ARROW button until COLD RESET is highlighted. 4. Press the SELECT button. The printer performs a cold reset and then continues its power-on sequence. 5. Check all I/O settings and reset any customer-set printer configuration values
If the machine still comes back to the Strange FF95 error I would start with the replacement of the formatter, Part Number for the Formatter: Network versions Q3955-60003 Non-network versions Q3953-60001
This is a Fan issue you have 2 of them one on the front right side and one on the left. if you remove both covers see which one is not working Now if their are both working then you will need to replace the ECU (Engine Control Unit).
I've attached a link that shows you how to remove the covers off the 2420 it's a pdf file . And the Left side cover will need to be removed to access the other fan.

Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer. Turn the unit on.
