Stacking washer and dryer still vibrating and walking during spin cycle even though stacking kit is attached

Assuming that you've installed the stack kit according to instructions, you should check the following:
1. The dryer should be securely attached to the washer and not wiggle or move. The washer must always go on the bottom of the stack.
2. Washer should be level and have all four level legs making solid contact with the floor, no wobbling.
3. Make sure the drain hose is not pinched or restricted (or there is not debris in the drain pump) as a slow pump out will accentuate vibration problems.
4. Make certain you've removed all of the washer packing bolts before using the machine (see owners manual for description.)
5. The floor must be solid with no "springy" or "spongy" feel. No matter what you do to the laundry set it will vibrate on a less than solid floor. This occurs on upstairs installations or other wooden floors, especially in an older home. Sometime the floor can be braced to stiffen it. Also, vibration pads are sold that might help minimize the vibration. The walking is a symptom of vibration.

Experience shows that most problems of this sort result from incorrect installation and/or flooring issues, not the laundry. You should not attach it to the wall. It is possible the washer has a problem in which case a technician would need to check the unit. They can check the suspension and drive system for proper operation.

My Frigidaire stackable laundry center will not fill with water?

Hi Keith Knapp, I appreciate your inquiry!
I understand that your Frigidaire laundry center is not filling with water. It sounds like you could be having a problem within water valve, control board, or door switch. I would recommend having a technician out to your home to properly diagnose and repair your appliance. Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt

Its never a good idea to leave a clothes dryer unattended. They are often a source of house fires. Is it a gas dryer? Maybe a gas leak, do not use until checked by a qualified person. If electric tumble dryer, then maybe the smell was caused by some lint collected around the heater element, and it eventually scorches and stinks like that. Either way,get it checked by a profession qualified person, don't risk a fire in your house! Hope this helps, good luck.

Have a Maytag Dependable Care dryer. Model MDG9606AWW. The glow bar comes on, gas lights and stays on about 30 seconds, go off for about 30-60 sec. then comes back on for about 10-18 seconds. Then goes off...

Inspect the dryer venting from the rear of the dryer to the outside vent hood of the home.
If there's a restriction in the vent--the clothing in the dryer takes longer to dry.
When an LG dryer is functioning normally---the time required to dry laundry is determined by the *Sensor* located on the drum side of the lint filter housing and by the main control board.
When laundry is near dry--any Time Remaining on the control panel that is *not* needed will be eliminated---except for the last 6 minutes.
The final 6 minutes of any LG automatic cycle is for cooling down the laundry before the dryer ends the cycle.
If a dryer *counts down* to the last 6 minutes but the laundry is still not dry--the computer will allow the dryer to run until the laundry has dried or defaults (not drying within the additional time allowed).
Dryer vents that are longer than 8 feet with more than (2) 90 degree turns--can affect drying performance.
Setting the DRY LEVEL selector to *Very Dry* will solve most dryability issues. In homes with abnormally long vents--even the longer run time in the *Very Dry* setting is usually not sufficient to dry laundry loads.
Reducing the length of the vent or starting a second cycle becomes necessary to fully dry the clothing.
If a second cycle was started---only the amount of time that is needed to dry laundry will be used before dropping to 6 minutes and then the cycle will end with dry laundry.

LG gas dryers are more sensitive to venting length and air flow resistance. The gas burner can cause a rapid increase in temperature compared to an electric burner.
Rapid temperature rise in a gas dryer leads to premature burner shutdown (longer time required to dry laundry).
The gradual temperature increase of an electric element is more "forgiving" in homes where the dryer venting is less than ideal.

Drawing combustion air for a gas dryer

I am assuming that this is a gas dryer not an electric dryer.
Per the 2009 Uniform Mechanical Code Section 902.0
(B) Gas utilization appliances shall not be installed so its combustion, ventilation, and dilution air are obtained only from a bedroom or bathroom unless the bedroom or bathroom has the required volume in accordance with Section 701.2. [NFPA 54:10.1.2]
Section 701.2 basically says you need to provide adequate combustion air. One way is if the volume of the space is 50 cubic feet per 1000 btu. I personally think it is a bad idea to obtain combustion air from a bedroom even if it has adequate volume; it used to be prohibited by the Uniform Mechanical Code. The combustion air requirements are based on the BTUs of the appliance not the CFM. For gas pipe sizing purposes the Uniform Plumbing Code says that clothes dryers have a BTU input rating of approx. 35,000 BTUs. One 4" duct to the attic with the opening of the duct inside the closet within 12 inches of the ceiling would provide enough combustion air per the "One Permanent Opening Method" in UMC chapter 7.

Make up air is a different requirement than combustion air. Chapter 5 of the UMC states that if you have a dryer in a closet you need to provide a make-up air opening of 100 sq inches. The make -up air is to replace the air that is being exhausted not to provide air for combustion. The make -up air could be taken form the exterior of the building or another room within the building. Technically the closet should be insulated and weatherstripped if you get the make-up air and combustion air form the exterior.

Sorry doc john but the fire inspector is not talking about the exhaust duct (environmental air duct). That is required no matter where you have installed the dryer and is a totally separate
