The remote on my Hunter ceiling fan (Model: 27185 - 060) does not activate the ceiling fan. I can turn the light on manually, but not the ceiling fan. I cannot see the antenna on the ceiling fan.

The first thing you need to do, is change the battery(s) in the hand held remote, as well as the battery(s) in the receiver inside the fan's cowling. Weak batteries will limit a remotes operation.
And, FYI - there is no antenna on the ceiling fan.

I hope this helps you. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi, Betty. Hampton Bay Ceiling fans are a house brand for Home Depot. They do sell replacement hand-held remotes, that can be programmed to match your fan. But, before you rush off to buy a new one, change the batteries in the remote first. There's a batteries in the handl held remote and some in the receiver, inside the fans cowling. Low batteries can cause what is happening with your fan.

Hope this helped you.

I moved into a house with 2 hunter ceiling fans with remote control. Both are set to the same frequency. Where is the transmitter located on the fan to change remote frequency setting?

Typically it is directly under the very top cover. it is slide under the hanger on the ceiling. Just remove the 4 screws and drop the cover and it should be there.

Remote will not work on ceiling fan

Bob, without knowing who the manufacturer of your fan is and the model, my first thought would be, have you changed the batteries? Batteries are located in the hand-held remote, as well as in the receiver inside the fan's cowl. You will need to change ALL the batteries with fresh ones out of a dated package.

If you've already completed the above, there are two other things to check:

1. Are all the batteries facing the proper direction? Check batteries and the diagram in the battery holder.

2. Is the wall switch turned OFF. If it is, the remote control will not work. The Wall Switch must be ON.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

sounds like the motor is going bad, you may be able to take it down and take it apart and clean it up. The armature is what usually goes bad, you will need to do some price checking, new motor versus repair bill. Hope this helps Tim

Installed the Altura 56" fan (56ATR), worked fine at all speed until we put on the light. Everything worked fine for about 10 minutes, then the fan stopped working, but the light stayed on. Kept trying...

both the fan and light have a common connection .. usually all the white wires are connected at one wire nut .. check to see if the fan wire has pulled out of the wire nut ... remove the wire nut and re-tighten it .. pull on each wire to make sure each one is secure ..make sure power is off before working on this ...

After researching the complaints on this product I found that the reverse mode can be intermittent, the high speed can be slow at best and the returns of this product back to the store are staggering. Get a new but different model.
