Always tell us the make and model of your system and the operating system you are running.
In your case, you should also mention how you connect (when you do).

My Dell XPS doesn't connect properly to my Netgear DGN1000SP router

It my be the amount of devices connected? Try shutting down all but one, the laptop. It's possible you have a defective wireless device? If you connect the Laptop via a Ethernet Cable does it connect and work well? Turn off every thing, unplug remove battery from everything. install battery in the ISP modem , if applicable, plug in, allow self test, plug in Netgear, allow self test, plug in Laptop only, connect to wireless, enter security key. post results. Have you done any firmware upgrades on the Netgear? Wireless connection

Turn off the laptop, unplug, remove battery, plug in. Push and hold the reset button for 30 seconds or so on the Netgear to reset to default settings. Boot laptop, when boot is complete, Open Network and Sharing Center, click on Manage Wireless networks, remove your OLD wireless network. Close Network and Sharing Center. In your Tray Notification Area , left click on the network icon, select unsecured Netgear Wireless Network. When connected, reconfigure SSID and Security Password.

I have an acer extensa 5620z and netgear dg834v5 modem/router. I can connect via ethernet, but even though i have set the router without security, the laptop detects the wireless network, but won't...

This is worked for me on Vista:
1. Goto Network and Sharing Center.
2. Click on your Wireless Connection "View Status".
3. Click on Propertes.
4. Uncheck the option that says "Internet Protocol Version 6"

When I did this, my wireless began working again.

I can't get internet connection even though it says my connection strength is "excellent."

The netbook is working fine. The WiFi connection or SPID may require you to login as in it is a protected signal. The "Excellent" means that you are receiving an excellent signal from the router. What you want is internet access which is upstream of that. Try a different SPID or connection.

Internet Applications wont connect - Vista

I am running Windows 7 (the new vista) so I hope I can help. Go to the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". Click on "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing Center". You shouls see something like: Computer =====Network ====== Internet. If there is an "X" on one of the connections, that may help you decide which option further down to try. You can keep me posted if this helps to this point.

I am unable to get my Dell Laptop online anymore.

I can solve this for free so don't worry about the money. We may have to go back and forth a few times so get a pen and paper, cause I can't see what you see. And I'm gonna send this in as a solution but you don't have to rate it until you are satisfied. That way is will be just you and me working on the problem and there won't be any conflicting information.
Alright, you say that you have a connection to the wirless router with your laptop but you can't get on the Internet on your laptop. So do this first and send me the info. First, click on start>run>type in cmd. This will bring you to the DOS prompt. Type cd \. Now you should be at the C:>.
Type in ipconfig /all. Then send me the IP address (should be 192.168.xxx.xxx.) and the gateway address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx). We'll start from there. I have to see if you are connecting to the ISP web server. Just send it and I'll reply.

I have a sony vaio vgn-nr110E and whenever i connect to a wireless network i have a problem with it. if i connect to a network that is unsecured (or does not require a password) it connects to it right...

Your connection required more than a password. You need to configure your connection such as WEP, WPA or other security capabilities. To do this you need to know the wireless routers configuration and match it.
