Question about StarTech.com (SV231UADVI) 2-port KVM Switch

Cannot connect to the monitor with one computer.

I have a HP WX 8600 that will not connect to a Samsung 305T monitor thru the SV231UADVI KVM switch. It connects directly to the monitor and works fine. My SONY PCV-RZ14G connects to this monitor thru the KVM switch with no problems. I have swapped from one connection to the other, also swapped cables back and forth. no help. All I get when the HP is connected thru the switch is five raster colors.

I do not have printer problems. I cannot get the 2nt computer to connect to my monitor thru the kvm switch. All cables have been exchanged everything has been rebooted. No problem when the computer is hooked directly to the monitor. This however removes the switch,

Dear,
you have to install the monitor to the pc first..
if it is using as default then try to configure your monitor throgh Destop--->right click and then properties--->settings---->advance---->monitor---->properties--->driver---->update driver...
and then let it find the driver and after installations.. check it again by finally reset the monitor or do a restart to the system..

regards,

Technician help at your place is much advisable.as the settings have to be checked one by one.

The compression in the PDF output tab that was causing the issue.

We print on a Durst Lambda RGB imaging device to photographic paper. All color management is done as an early bind (raster files are converted to the printer's color space and vector colors are chosen from a palette database). So basically the files must go through InDesign without any color change in raster or vector information. We have clients that require specific RGB builds for logo colors the are present in both their raster and vector files.
Color Management is set to "North American General Purpose 2" with "RGB: Preserve Embedded Profiles" selected.

1) The file is exported as a PDF 1.4, High Quality, PDF/X_None.
2) The PDF was ripped on a Cheetah RIP (Jaws level 3) with no color management on.
3) Solid raster colors such as 0-255-0 will reproduce as 0-255-1.
4) The color differences between the raster and vector are usually 1-4 points.
5) The vector is consistent as was input in the program—it's only the raster that changes. When you are trying to match raster and vectors logo colors it is a killer.

However, I can go into the InDesign (or Illustrator) color settings and turn color management off (This is our current workflow). In doing this the RGB working space uses the monitor profile and "color management policies" are set to OFF. With these settings the RGB raster and vector match. The problem with this work flow is two fold:

1) We have other devices than our RGB Durst Lambda that can use the InDesign color management—Vutek flat bed 3200 and grand format 3360.

2) We have had many occurrences where the custom "color management off" settings have reverted back to the default "North American General Purpose 2"—without any intervention.

    HI
    -Try and reset the monitor.
-Turn the monitor off and on
-If the monitor has more than one input, try a different input
    - Try and use a different cable when connecting the monitor

    Thanks

How to connect my lcd kvm and make it display on sreen

You question is unclear. Please specify the makes and model of all devices. I typically use Rackmount Monitor Keyboard combos with integrated KVM Switches for larger server applications. I have used quiet a few units from KVMSwitchTech and they work pretty well.

If you are getting no video then either the KVM Switch is not transmitting video or the cable is defective. I would recommend checking with the supplier of the KVM Switch you are using.

I have an Avocent Switchview SC4 DVI hooked up to an HP monitor and an HP computer with a NVidia 9500GT dual DVI card in it. If you hook the monitor directly to the computer it works. However, I can't get...

Is your switch a SCxPDV or a SC4UAD? Regardless, if it's a DVI switch, you can try place a DVI-D cable in between your HP PC and the switch. Do the same between the switch and the HP monitor. I'm guessing you are currently using a DVI-I cable between the PC and the switch. Some video card/OS combo send out analog signal when you use a DVI-I cable on the PC, which would not be displayed if you are using the digital port on the monitor. To read up on the difference between DVI-I and DVI-D cables, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

For future Avocent product related questions, I suggest you post them at Avocent's user forum http://community.avocent.com as it's monitored by their tech support team.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

I want a picture of it to know how to put my two computers together

The KVM switch is visually intuitive.

Instead of connecting the monitor into a particular computer you now connect it (and the other computer) to the KVM switch.

Similarly for the mosque and keyboard.

Using KVM-121 with 2 monitors

the way the kvm switches works is you have your mouse/keyboard and monitor plugged into the switch then you have the cables connecting to where you would have your mouse/keyboard on your pc, youll be using the same keyboard/mouse and monitor to run 2 pc's. there will be rather a switch to move between the pc's or like the 1 i use i have tp press ctrl the number 2 twice.
