My magic chef gas oven showed the F1 code. I tried to self clean the oven and some wires under the cooktop started to melt and smoke.

Hi nelson1999,

F1 error description is a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). Replace touch pad or clock (ERC). Touch pad is a more common problem.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

It sounds like a bad control. Before replacing the control, make sure it is not in Sabbath Mode, Child lock and if all else fails try resetting the control to factory defaults. If none of these work then replace the clock/control part number 5701M827-60. This part runs about $175.00

I attached a cut out of the service manual, to show how to reset the locks and factory defaults

Magic Chef Oven intially was beeping and indicating --F0 default code

Hi tjsolutions2,

The function key stuck, that's the F0 error code means. To fix this, replace touch pad or if touch pad is part of the clock, replace the clock (ERC).

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.
