There is a bad connection inside the tuner of the set. In order to repair this, the tuner must be removed and opened. This repair should be simple for any TV repair shop and not cost much. This is simply a resolder job. It will take a few minutes to get at the part that needs to be resoldered though. Call around and get a few prices for a resolder of the tuner input "F" connector.

Just wondering if thesmiths860 found a solution to their issue w/ their Sony TV. My tv is doing the same thing i.e. snow, won't change channels and says "NO SIGNAL".
Does anyone have a solution? I don't have the original remote so I can't do a factory reset.
Try knocking on the cable connector whith the cable pugged in and the set on and also put the tv on a channel between 2 and 13, if the picture comes back then you have bad solder joint in or around tuner ***`y.
you may also want to check you cable connectors.
the tv setup won`t help you here. good luck
Picture int disappears leaving snow on screen
Resolder the Xtal in the tuner
No picture - screen is empty. Sound is ok
Check IC101 (BA7630F), if video signal comes to input (pin 1) but not present at output (pin 14) then replace this IC
Intermittent video or snow
Resolder points A, B, C, D in tuner PCB, check cold solder on tuner shield 2-106-349-21
SOUNDS LIKE BAD SOLDER CONNECTIONS IN SIDE THE TUNER.
TAKE THE BACK OFF AND TRY TAPPING AROUND WITH YOUR DRIVER HANDLE THIS WILL LEAD YOU TO WERE THE PROBLEM IS.
THEN WE TAKE THE TUNERS APART AND RE SOLDER THE CONNECTIONS,BUT YOU HAVE TO BE VERY GOOD OR YOU WILL
MAKE MATTERS WORSE.
