There is no light, no anything...which leads me to the fuse...

  • dculican Aug 19, 2008

Do you know if it is a common fuse and if so, do you think radio shack will have it?

  • dculican Aug 20, 2008

I pulled out the switch assembly (with about 4 wires coming out of it and 1 ground wire) I took it to Radio Shack and the 20 something kids working there looked at it funny. I will take it today to a real electronic place and hopefully they can help me out. I have the power cord also, Is there a way to test the switch without being hooked into the TV?

If you see a light on the front panel, is not the fuse but something else in the power supply circuit board or could also have damaged the main board due to the poor voltage regulation of these power supplies.

That is correct. check the fuse first and if that is open make sure you put one with the same current ratings.

  • Jaime Hernandez Aug 19, 2008

The fuse should be a standard 250V/5 Amps fuse and radio shack should have it. Once you open the bcak vover of your TV, you will see it there.

    @ danculican,

It depends on the revision of the board but normally they use inductors as protection instead of a fuse in the secondary side of the power circuitry. There should be one fuse in there. Compare the pictures from the link and see if you can find it.

AFTER FEW POWER OUTAGES, FREEZER TEMPERATURE KEEPS BOUNSING BETWEEN 5 AND 20 DEGREES, REFRIGIRATOR SEEMS TO WORKING FINE AND KEEPS TEMPERATURE.

Check the cabinet temperature with an independent thermometer. If it is does keep a stable temperature the problem would probably be electronic.

A power outage is often accompanied by a voltage surge. Sensitive electronics and computers can be damaged by a voltage surge. People are used to protecting personal computers with surge protectors but fail to realise these days almost everything is a computer or contains a computer. Radios and tv sets are computers and so are cars and even the humble toaster these days has some computing power.
Today almost everything but the cheapest of appliances should be protected. A minimum surge protection can be obtained by using an area surge protector.

Surge associated with power outage can make disasters in refrigerators. You need a power protector for refrigerators.
Now, what already is damaged, should be repaired by an authorized techician.

I have a Panasonic plasma, & we just had a power outage today... every time we have one, it won't power back on. The call center is closed for the night, & I can't remember what they told me to do the last...

First, unplug the TV, wait 30 seconds to 1 minute, then plug back in & try it. This allows the unit to reset.
Be sure you AC outlet breaker has not tripped.
could also be the TV fuse or power supply PCB.
You should be sure to put a good surge protector in line with this TV as these constant surges are going to severely shorten the life of the unit.

Had a power outage and now my tv is totally dead. Any suggestions?

It died from the power surge. If it is still under warranty, check if it covers power surges. If not, you should probably buy a new TV. Buy a good quality surge protector just in case something like this happens again. It's a good idea to get surge protectors for your other expensive electronics too.

No power

Unplug the tv press power on and plug it back in.
some of these units have a reset clearly marked on the back.
connect direct to wall as the surge protector may now have issue.
