If you can't get into the bios, you can't start a repair, when it's booting, continually press F2 to get the bios up, if that does nothing reboot an continualy press Del, this is for the bios menu and set the cd drive as first boot device.

If not continually press F8 on boot up this is safe mode, then when youre in highlight last known good configuration and press Enter.

Give this a try as your pc will not be set to boot from cdrom as default and will just try to boot into windows.

I think i accidentally hit the lock button while it was on and when i pulled the battery out (wasn't responding to poweroff button) it wouldnt come back on again

Try this remove battery and power supply. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Plug in power supply (leave out the battery) now press the power button. It should power on, after bootup shut down laptop unplug power supply, insert battery then power supply and power up. All should be well. good luck.

Yahoo messenger window not responding

There are still some compatibility problems with Internet Explorer 8. One common problem seems to be with add-ons in the browser itself that create conflicts. The workaround seems to be to disable all add-ons, (including your Yahoo messenger), then add them back in one at a time to see which is causing the conflict. You could try this and see if the Yahoo works with IE8 before adding in the others. There is also the option to run IE8 with no add-ons, and see if the problems persist.(Rt. click icon to start)
Or you could search the newsgroups at MS and see if anyone there has a solution. This is pretty new, as you know, but MS support has been working through these issues since the beta versions and has a more heads up understanding of the what's involved. They can be accessed by clicking here.
Or you can try using IE8 in compatibility mode for particular sites you have trouble with, but I suspect that if Yahoo doesn't have an update for the messenger that fixes the problem you may have to revert back to Internet Explorer 7 for awhile....

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!
