Reader could be broken in your mac. It is probably easier just to replace your CD-ROM drive than try and fix it.

I have a mac powerbook g4 and there a password preventing me to use the laptop i am worried because the person who gave to me is a password changer and has forgot it. thank you to help me

If you do not care about any of the files on the computer, all you have to do is reformat the drive. This will wipe the drive clean and allow you to reinstall the Operating System and essentially have a brand new computer.
Insert disc 1 that came with the computer and hold down the option key to bring up the boot menu. Double click on the CD icon to boot from the CD. Once your computer has booted from the CD, click on the Utilities menu bar and open up Disk Utility. Once this is open, choose the internal hard drive most likely named "Macintosh HD" and then simply reformat it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Once this is done, restart the machine with the CD still inserted and install the operating system that came with the computer. Once this is all done, run the computer like normal and the system will be all yours.

DVD Drive will play DVD,but will not recognize a CD

This usually means that auto-play is not enabled and your computer is reading the disc fine.

Once the disc is in your computer go to the MY COMPUTER icon on the start menu.

Next find the CD/DVD icon and double click on that. This should open your cd for you!

NEED TO READ AND WRITE TO SAME CD WITH 2 DIFFERENT COMPUTERS.

You can't. You have to install Excel onto your computers. You can then use that programme to create files, which in turn you save to your computer hard drive.

Once done you can write CD's , DVD's or more popular for file transfer a USB flash drive.

Should you wish to continue with CD's, then I suggest you use CD-RW (Re-writeable CD's)

Burned a CD and it will not eject. The CD is in my 17" PowerBook G4, but does not populate on my desktop. It's as if the computer does not recognize the CD at all.

If you restart your Mac, holding down the mouse button while it is starting, will eject any cd or dvd. Once the disc ejects just release the mouse button and the computer continues it's startup procedure.

MAC G4 won't boot - Blue screen appears

Hi Sorry to hear you are having troubles,You will need a firewire 400 cableOK, first thing you must do is reboot the eMac in TARGET mode, this means it will be recognized as an external disk. To get the eMac in TARGET mode, you must be sure the eMac is turned OFF and has a functioning keyboard connected.Power on the eMac and very very rapidly press the ( T ) key on the keyboard, be sure the caps lock button is not pressed. If all goes well, you will see the firewire logo appear larger than life on the screen.( If you are unable to get into TARGET mode, it is highly probable that the mother board of the internal hard drive is damaged and preventing the eMac from entering TARGET mode, sorry, that's the end of the line..)Once you enter TARGET mode on the eMac, connect the firewire cable to your G4 PowerBook, you can do this either while it is running or when it is off and then turn it on.
You should see the volume of your eMac internal hard drive appear on the PowerBook desktop...sometimes you need to open Disk Utilities and repair or mount the drive manually. If this all works well, copy the required files directly to your PowerBook...After that, power off both machines, disconnect them and reboot the eMac using a CD or DVD to reformat and reinstall a new system.

Dell dimensions not reading cd

You could first go into the device manager and uninstall the CD. When restarted, the computer will identify it and reinstall it. If it is still unable to read the CD, try several other CDs. If that fails, you probably have a CD drive that has failed and will need to be replaced. They are not very expensive these days.

My imac g4 isn't reading the dvd/cd drive at all

it won't read it because the new os disk is double layered and the g4 drive you have probably won't read double layered dvds.  best solution is to buy or borrow an usb external dvd drive.  i did this last week and it worked fine.
