Hi i know these machines quite well. even though it states that the maximum ram is 4gb . it sometimes will not take it. if you have 667 ram in it change to 666 that usually works. these machines can be fussy now and again.

I did have the same issue - instead I installed 1 x 2gb stick and 1 x 1Gb stick. 3Gb is better than 2Gb anyway so its all good :)

Its not XP it will be the maximum capabilities of the amount of memory the laptop can handle, please refer to manual for max amount, i would suspect 2GB max

Sandrew - the unit can handle 4Gb Max as I am using Windows 7 64 bit edition on mine and its running without problems seeing the 4Gb. The limitation is most definitely with the XP operating system as it affects various hardware platforms (even units that can take up to 8Gb). Windows XP 32 bit will see no more than 3.5Gb of any available physical memory.

My laptop is too slow even if i am just surfing internet like FB. can the memory be upgradable? up to how many gb?

you can upgrade up to 2GB (DDR2)
Your computer has 1 memory slot you remove the memory and install a new one.
you can use either
2GB 800MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM
or
2GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM

Blue screen with 4gb, OK with 3gb of RAM on 6720s laptop Using windows 7 (32 bit) there are 2x slots, but the top slot seems only capable of recognising 1gb of RAM without giving the blue screen at startup...

A 32bit OS and Processor is able to Identify and work with upto 3GB of memory.
That may be the cause of the issue
Even if any computer has more then 3gb of ram it will showup only upto 3gb.
if you install 4gb or more then also it will not show up.

.........and second reason, may the ram that you are using are not identical or one of them is not working properly.
Check the specifications of the ram and also try using one a time.

Thanks and Regards

If you are using the XP or Vista OS, if you are going to install more than 3 GB of Memory then it fails to show up on the computer properties.

Once you install the memory then you may check the BIOS for the memory installed in the system, the BIOS shows the exact amount of memory installed in the system.

You system is capable of 4 GB of RAM.

try to see if that memory is supported with your motherboard. The memory has something to do with that problem.

I want to change the 2 x 512DDR ram by 2x 2GB DDR ram memories in my A205-S4577/Toshiba. Will it work?

hi,
it will work as your notebook is supporting maximum 4 gb RAM but please check that you are using 32 bit operating system or 64 bit one.
If it is 32 bit then the system will be showing 3.2 gb RAM only as this is the 32 bit os limitation.

Toshiba Satellite A215-S7407 ram upgrade

Try to disconnect the new ram you just bought one at the time to see which one is defective. Also, 32 bit operating systems won't detect 4 Gb or ram, but they will show 3 Gb (even though they will use all 4 Gb). To resolve this issue, make sure that if you are using windows Vista to download the latest service pack 1.

Eee PC models use 533/667 MHz DDR2 RAM via a standard SO-DIMM module.

The hardware supports up to 4GB (2GB for the 1000 series, and some of the 900 series).

YES THE FREQUENCY OF BOTH RAMS DO NOT MATCH ... THATS BOOTING WITH EACH BUT ONLY ONE BY ONE ... YOU NEED RAMS OF SAME FREQUENCY AND SYSTEM WILL SUPPORT BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER ...
