Problem vith lap-top

Several things you need to check before replacing actual parts.
First, check the connection to the inverter for the lcd. Sometimes the connection can become loose causing a blank lcd but the motherboard is working fine. Next would be to actually replace the inverter if only the lcd does not power on at all. Even if lcd is blank you can see that the lcd is on but no picture in which case your video card could have failed and in many cases requires changing the motherboard because video is integrated into the board. Good luck.

yes thanks, but when I suces turn on my lap-top he work properly

Why is my replaced lcd screen not lighting up?

1) Wrong LCD screen

2) Video Cable (LCD Cable) is not connected tightly.
Motherboard side, or LCD screen side; or both.

3) IF, a screen Inverter is used, the small cable from the Video Cable, that connects to the screen Inverter; is not connected, or has a loose connection to it. (screen Inverter)

4) An LCD screen, and a screen Inverter are a Matched unit.
If it's the wrong LCD screen......................?

5) IF, a screen Inverter is used; the diagnosis was wrong, and the LCD screen was replaced.
90 PERCENT of the time, the fault is a bad screen Inverter.

A) Laptop's LCD screen uses a CCFL, (Or more than one), for a Backlight; the laptop uses a screen Inverter.

Diagnostic flowchart leads from Graphics Chipset, to Video Cable, to screen Inverter, THEN, LCD screen.
Expensive LCD screen was replaced, instead of the actual part that needed replacing;
Video Cable: $9 to $22
Screen Inverter: $9 to $22

LCD screen: $60 to $245

B) Laptop's LCD screen uses LED backlighting, and does NOT use a screen Inverter:

Diagnostic flowchart is;
A) Video Cable;
A Video Cable should have it's connections PHYSICALLY checked.
You have to try to push the connectors in tighter.
Visual inspection alone will NOT do.

Making sure the Video Cable connections are tight, and this does not fix the problem, then the Video Cable needs to be removed; and every wire in the Video Cable checked for Continuity with a multimeter set to OHM's. (1K)

Not feasible, then take the Video Cable down to the nearest small computer shop; and have the resident tech check it for Continuity.
Should only be a few bucks.

Or just replace the Video Cable.
(Parts changing I know, but...........?)

Primer:
An LCD screen cannot produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, (Or more than one), or a series of LED's.
(Light Emitting Diode)

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. (Bulb)
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses; but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little large than 1/16th of an Inch.
Average thickness is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power, (Electricity), from the laptop; for the LCD screen, and Backlight.

As previously stated, Backlighting that uses CCFL, uses a screen Inverter.
LED backlighting MAY, or MAY NOT use a screen Inverter.
When the LED backlight technology first came out, it seems some did use a screen Inverter.
It also seems as the technology advanced, LED backlighting does Not use a screen Inverter.

My screen is extremely dark. In the right light, you can make out things, but it is otherwise impossible to see. I tried pressing the "Fn" button and the "F7" button that controls the brightness by the key...

Hi Sarah, the problem is in the lcd inverter which lives behind the screen bezel and beneath the lcd panel. The inverter is a small electronic board that connects the lcd panel to the motherboard and is responsible for powering the light bulb that lights the panel itself. These bulbs are built into the panel. The inverter is inexpensive to replace and only takes a short time to change out. In most cases you only have to remove the plastic belzel that surrounds the panel. Unless the laptop was banged around and the bulb has been broken or a wire harness has come loose from the inverter's socket, I would go with an inverter failure. You will know when the bezel is pulled, because a new inverter can be test fitted and run to make sure the screen lights before putting everything back together. If it is just a loose plug, then that can be accomplished at that time too without too much work. In most cases, remove the rubber bumpers because they usually hide the screws, remove all screws holding the bezel, then from the inside edge of the bezel pull the bezel up and toward the out side to release it from the lid assembly and then just work your way around the whole perimeter until the bezel comes loose.. Once the bezel is off you will see how everything is mounted and how the wire harness is plugged in.

Lines on LCD

Once you see lines on the lcd that defitinely means the lcd is bad. As far as the board to the lcd, that would be behind it but with all the delicate tiny IC's on it, its would be near to impossible to troubleshoot it and start replacing components cause its done by machine and the legs of the IC's have match up perfectly with where your going to solder it into place. Inverter is good, when ineverters go bad its either you get a dim screen, weird colors, or even a white screen. My suggestion, definitely get a new lcd put in there since your getting lines in the lcd. Also your lcd cable could be flaky as well but those are cheap so getting one of those isn't a problem. Get those two things replaced and your laptop should work like new.

I have a broken monitor. where do i buy a replacement acer notebook?

Visit eBay.com and do a search with the exact make and model. There are several listings, and several prices. The hard part is doing the actual replace. And... next time you need to hide the laptop don't sit on it!

Can i connect a presario v3500 laptop to an external momitor. @I think the display inverter is gone and i need to get some files off the lap top for work.

Yes, connect the external monitor to the port it corresponds on the laptop, usually the blue port. When you boot the computer hit the FN key located on the bottom right hand side of your keyboard and the LCD/CRT key i believe this will be the F4 key located on the top part of your keyboard this should activate the external monitor.

Please help me agian

So, if your motherboard is turning on and the fan comes on than for now you can check to see if your back light turns on for your lcd panel by going to a dark place and turn ont he laptop there. Than check if you see a faint light that stays on or a flicker. If you see a faint light or the display is dim than it is the inverter on the lcd panel otherwise you may need to replace the video card which can be integrated onto the motherboard and may require a new motherboard. All depends on the model you have.
