If you can open up the unit, you may try to check the left and right internal speakers if the contacts are soldered properly, im not an expert, it just a suggestion, since it happened to my LG to. hope this helps.

First, the audio board in that unit is commonly a lemon. Several Ic's on that board need to be checked, possibly replaced and there are even several modifications to do if something NLA is not working.. Your best bet is sending it into PTS for rebuild.
The second problem horz tear and dark pic could be a result of the spark gap, crt pins and/or crt board. A few simple tests for a shop can confirm that...
My advice is take this in... With the multiple of problems it would be quite difficult to determine what looks bad and what actually is on the audio board without a highly trained eye and technical experience. The other should be a breeze for a shop.

Sounds like a broken contact to the speakers or a faulty audio board.

If you use external speakers or external surround system, check audio connection (RCA cables). If you are connecting external speakers using jack, check jack connector, often this kind of connector give troubles.
Try doing a whack test, hitting (not too hard) the TV sides with the palm of your hand.
If this influence the sound in sense that sound is going and coming back as soon as you hit the TV, that means there is a lose contact to speakers inside TV.
A lose contact to speaker can be an easy fix if you know how to solder.
Try plugging and unplugging headphones, if this affect sound it can be a faulty headphones jack excluding the main audio.
If it is none of the above, then it is a faulty audio pcb, or a faulty control board inside tv.
In this last case you will need to call a technician to fix the TV. Find a repair shop in your area or call the phone number printed on your user manual.

Borrow a surround or use an amplified speakers set and check if you can fix it with this trick.
    To
do a real fix, a technician must open the tv, and test all audio
connection, and onboard connection to audio outputs to see what is
    wrong.
If TV is going to work with a surround you will probably get
a far better audio quality than the one you get now from TV speakers.

Assuming you are using the internal speakers, check and make sure you have the audio enabled. Some TV sets have a option to turn off the internal speakers. Also make sure mute isn't turned on. If you are using external audio setup, double check your connections.

Sharp LC-37d6u audio problem

Have you tried the reset buttons on the back of the TV?
It should be right below your Cable IN port.

If that doesn't work, you may have to take it into a repair shop for the main unit board to be replaced. The part # is KD352
It's $99.59 at Shopjimmy.com
So, don't let the repairman rip you off.

Sharp LC-37D6U Aquos audio problem

Your Aquos does not have a separate Audio board, audio circuits are mainly on main pcb. If the guy was able to fix the problem by hooking a surround to the audio out, that means that is a problem with speakers contacts or with one of the outputs.
Borrow a surround or use an amplified speakers set and check if you can fix it with this trick.
To do a real fix, a technician must open the tv, and test all audio connection, and onboard connection to audio outputs to see what is wrong.
If TV is going to work with a surround you will probably get a far better audio quality than the one you get now from TV speakers.

Lc-37d6u intermittant audio issue

I'll tell you but it's not easy to do it. The heat sink radiator for the audio amplifier IC is touching the circuit board. You have to remove it and to replace the sillicon. The radiator is situated on the back of the AV board. You got to remove all boards to get this one.
Good luck.
