No, the unit cannot record without a tape.
Unlike digital units which can have internal memory, analogue recorders have no internal (built-in) tape. Analogue recorders also do not have digital memory in place of an analogue tape.

How to operate gr-d70k digital video camera?do i need recording tape even they have a memory card?and how to change the language from japanese to english

You will need a Mini DV tape to record videos. The memory card can only record snapshots. When you rotate the LCD panel away from the body of the camera, you will see some controls. On the left of the second row, there is a switch. Set it to Memory to record to the memory card. Set the switch to Video to record to the tape.

I'm not sure how to change the language. There are no language options for the GR-D70.

The manual for the JVC GR-D70 is available here: http://www.jvc.co.uk/files/instruction_manual/lyt1145-001a.pdf . I believe that the GR-D70K will work the same way.

I hope this helps.

My pen cam has 4gb memory but it will not record more than 20 seconds. How to improve the memory space? dose i connect an externale battary for longer recording? this device is china made. When i triyed...

It all depends what the camera offers in its recording menu.

If there is an option, set it to record in MPEG4 format. This compresses the data file, giving the impression of more space on your camera memory.

HOW DO I DELETE RECORDS FROM JVC -D740EK VIDEO CAMERA?

Since the JVC GR-D740EK is a european miniDV camcorder with no embedded memory nor memory card slot, I would assume that your talking about erasing or recording over your miniDV tapes. You can simply do so by sliding the the erase protection tab on your miniDV tape towards "record" and you can begin to record you movies. Prerecorded tapes cannot be deleted and used as "new" or bare (having no recording on it).

DV Cassettes vs Memory Stick

Well, I went to The Sony site and what I found out was that currently this camera is only ceritfied for a 512mb stick. It does say what the qualiy is the memory stick is E-mail mode with a resultion of 160x112 pixels. The TAPE mode is DV quality or 740X480 pixels. Try recording both ways and see what looks better when you play it back on you TV or PC then decide.

How Do I Make An MPEG Recording?

You can record video with audio onto the Memory Card. Follow the instructions below. Recording moving pictures onto a MEMORY CARD 1. Insert a Memory Card into the slot on the camcorder. 2. Set the mode switch to MEMORY CARD position. 3. Set the power switch to CAMERA mode. 4. Press the START/STOP button, the images are recorded on the MEMORY CARD in MPEG4. * You can record 10 ~ 20 seconds continuously. * You can record a still image on the Memory Card by pressing the Photo button instead of the START/STOP button. 5. Press the START/STOP button to stop the recording. Notes: * Moving images that you recorded are saved in *.asf file format on the Memory Card. * The moving picture images on a Memory Card are smaller size and lower definition than those on a Tape. * The sound is recorded in mono. * The following functions cannot be operated in M.REC Mode. - DIS (Digital Image Stabilizer), Digital Zoom, Fade, Program AE, Digital Special Effect, Slow Shutter. * Don't insert or eject a tape during Memory card recording as it may record noise. * Don't eject the Memory Card during recording as it may break the data on the Memory Card or the Memory Card itself.
