Fridge problems I have a hvac business for 30 years. but know little about fridges . my problem i have now is . it is fine and cooling but then just stops. when I put on gauges it has gone into a vaccum. prolly -20 on my gages in vaccum. when it is turned off it has about 50 lbs of pressure on gauges. I figured there was a blockage. I changed the filter drier. vaccumed down . filled with 134a . was doing great . running about 2 to 5 lbs of pressure low side. got freezer down to 15 degrees. I figured it was fine. brought it in house. and now it is running -20 in vaccum again . any suggestions? I am not sure if this is the model of mine but it is close haha.

Large fridge & freezer in caravan. Works fine on mains electric but fails to cool on gas. The pilot ignites and fridge cools very slightly on gas

IN THE PAST I HAVE TAKEN THE UNIT OUT AND TURNED IT UPSIDE DOWN, AND LEFT IT SIT FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH. THEN REINSTALL THE FRIDGE, AND IT WORKS AGAIN.. .. REASON YOU MAY ASK ? THERE IS A LITTLE BULB THAT THE FLAME KISSES, AND IT SEEMS IT GETS TRASH INSIDE THE BULB, AND SLOWS THE HEAT TRANSFER .. YA I KNOW IT SOUNDS CRAZY, THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT ALSO.. OH AND TO OPERATE THE UNIT NEEDS TO BE LEVEL (CHECK THIS FIRST !!) ..LAST ONE I DID WAS ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO..

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

Fridge not working

I've had this happen to my Kenmore 73503 several times. The 1st time took me a few hours to figure out what the problem was.

Basically the fridge is cooled from the freezer, so when you say your freezer is -2 degrees, it's a big tip off to the problem.

If you look very close in the freezer compartment at the back, you'll notice an opening with a little door at the top of the freezer compartment. This opening extends up the inside of the back of the fridge to the top of the fridge area via a square plastic tube.

Basically what happens in my fridge is the family loads the freezer to high especially at the top/back. This restricts or closes off the opening for the cold air to the fridge portion of the appliance ....resulting in a warm fridge, but cold freezer. Just remove the articles at the back of the freezer to correct problem. (It will take a few hours for the cold air to cool the fridge down)

Note: the temperature control unit in the fridge area controls the little door at the top of the freezer compartment, so if you haven't blocked off the opening, the next place to look would be either at the mechanical parts of the little door or the temperature control unit itself in the fridge

Not refrigerating

DO you have a thermometer to check the temp in both sections? MY first guess at the temp problem is that the fan has quit OR the vent betwen the freezer and the fridge is blocked. I bet on the fan being bad. Open the fridge door and hold in the little switch that operates the light. YOu should hear a fan running . If not, then the fan is kaput.. JOhnno.
