When I try to reconnect my pc to the printer it says that "new device found" but will not continue with the connection process. What do I do to solve this problem?

Perform reconnection inspections on the printer. Attempt to printer documents. The computer should diagnose the condostion either as missing programs or malalligned printer ink or paper or compartments not closed appropiately.

Unistall delete old drivers from system before installing the full driver and software package (which includes MFC suite), brother have a unistall driver program on web site
MFC suite will enable scanning etc, drivers don't do that
