My built in webcam doesn't appear to work with skype. works for everything else

Launch the Logitech QuickCam or Webcam software on your computer. Verify that you see yourself Logitech Webcam software window. Close the software window. Sign in to Skype. Click the "Tools" menu and select "Options." Click "Video Settings," check the "Enable Skype Video" and "Start my video automatically when I am in a call" boxes. Select your Logitech QuickCam from the drop-down list. Your webcam should display video in the window. Click "Audio Settings" if your QuickCam has a built-in microphone and select it from the microphone drop-down list. Check the "Let Skype adjust my audio settings" box in "Audio Settings" so Skype recognizes your microphone. Click "Save" to save the options for your audio and video settings. Skype will close the options menu.

I'm not sure, but maybe the launch manager controls the webcam and needs to be activated/installed
did you check for hidden devices in device manager?

To test if the A4Tech WEBcam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure itis connected properly. Then check the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop offand the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - VideoSettings and select the A4Tech WEBcam Also check the AudioSettings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.Avoidconnecting the WEBcam to an USB hub.

You have to configure Skype to work with your webcam.

• Open Skype
• Go to Tools menu
• Click on Options
• Click on Video Settings
• If Skype sees you have a webcam that your system recognises, it will display it there. If not, your computer cannot see the webcam.

If the camera isn't detected, you may need to reinstall the camera driver from the laptop manufacturer's website.

first check the settings on your operating system;
volume may have lowered;
uninstall all the old web cam softwares.;
in your current web cam settings select your web cams microfone and check everything of it i.e. input or output device etc.;
remove your head fones.

It sounds like the webcam recording software was erased. Do you have any other camera-using apps like Skype that you can use to confirm the webcam works?

If your webcam doesn't work at all, you'll probably need to install a new driver for it. If you can't find one, I could probably help you find one.

Go into the Skype settings and make sure the webcam is set to default. That's usually the problem.

If you use your webcam in different programs it may be still hooked up on one. Try re-booting your webcam software
Mine, I just unplug it and plug it back in.
As yours is built in - expand the imaging folder in Device Manager - Right click on the webcam text and toggle between 'disable' and 'enable' leaving it disabled for a few seconds - long enough to re-boot.
