Hi,
my friend gave me a toshiba satellite A 135. When i power up the laptop There is No video whatsoever.. no sound, nothing. Normally when i start up my toshiba A 105 after about 3 seconds u can hear the drive booting up. after 8-10 seconds you get the Black screen with Toshiba in red. I have tried powering the laptop up & pressing F8 to enter safe mode (nothing) . I also tried booting up the A 135 with the toshiba recovery disk (no success); powering up and holding "C". Still i get absolutely nothing.
she told me that her kids were using the laptop. I was thinking that maybe it had been dropped and messed up the motherboard? I'm not sure. I'm good with repairing software issues, but just now delving into the hardware. any help would be appreciated.
Sounds like a hardware failure because your not even reaching post. which means that its not software. i would take out the ram and hard drive. and then putting them back in. if that didn't do anything than I'm going to say you've probably got a dead mother board.

I tested the hard drive and ram, both were working. I was right in my assumption of a corrupted mother board. :-) thanks
