Hi,Osram lamps average around 3000-4000 hrs.Normally 1 -1 1/2 yr.I do think the lamp went out.The ballast is a possibility, when it's going bad it will make clicking noises or attempts to light the bulb.I recommend to get the Original Philips lamp for they average 6000-8000 hrs 3-4 yrs.

Hello, I have an LG lcd rear projection tv and parts of the screen are turning blue, do you think it's just the bulb or the light engine?

Hey there first of all your tv is a lcd rear projection set, this tv's don't have a light engine system, they use a optical block

whats happpening is that one of your lcd chips is burning out and this problem will start to get worst, to be honest with you it's very hard to purchase just the LCD chips, you need to buy the optical block to fix your set, also the bulb has nothing to do with the color the bulb just shoots out light.

Tv wont power up Standby light keeps flashing.

First step in any Sony LCD projector repair is bulb or lamp replacement. Fixes 95% of problems.

Taking apart and trying to measure things without a known good bulb is a waste of time and effort.

Recently changed my bulb for my Wega LCD KF-42SX300U TV. Since then it is turning itself off, with no particular pattern. It can come straight on and last for a few seconds, or last the entire evening....

Hello,
This is a classic case of a faulty lamp(even though it is new). Possible that it is a ballast(lamp power sply) problem but it is more likely that the lamp doesnt quite meet the required specifications. Your lamp may be a Non-OEM or a refurb. You should try to get it exchanged with the vendor you bought it from.
justlamps.com is a great source for bulbs.
good luck

Is it the bulb or is it a bigger problem???

i just replaced my 4th bulb in 5 years, some service techs think it might be the ballast, you can get a ballast repair kit for around $50.
personally i think the design of the tv is the problem. i was going thru bulbs about one per year, until i moved my set to another location in the house, away from any draft, doors or windows. the last bulb last almost 3000 hours, the previous bulb last only 1200 hours.
my new bulb was $139. + tax and 20 minutes to install myself, id like to get rid of this TV but you cant sell it for anything maybe when it fails again i will donate it to AMvets

The lights normally last for a very long time, the manufacturers claim that the could last up to 60000 hours.
In this case It appears that it could be the inverter board from where the lights get the power from, or the +24VDC are not being supplied; if the 24VDC are not supply from the power supply the inverter board ot lights will not work.
The 12VDC that supply the audio circuitry are working, since you can still hear it.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
