A problem with my DVD Rom

Please my DVDrom is not working so please help
do i have to install a driver?

Ther is no driver for n dvd rom as such................
u jus have to unplug n replug the cables n try........
second-- check in device manager if it has been disabled or not.........
device manager---rite click on my comp>>>properties>>>>hardware tab>>device manager>>> check for cd rom if it has a yellow question mark... if so rite click n enable..............
third -- format n reinstall os(xp,win98,vista).....

80% time this wrks... try!!!!!!!

Hello. For a few days now my dvd rom player on my acer laptop has stopped working. I have just bought the sims 3 on pc dvd rom and the drive does not detect the cd. Please help . Thankyou


Click start control panel administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it

My Sony VAIO does not know that there is a DVD rom. Lists that there is a driver for it ... I can not install a new driver for Optiarc DVD RW AD-7700H please, help me

GO TO CONTROL PANNEL
SYSTEMS
HARDWARE
DEVICE MANAGER
CLICK DEVICE MANAGER(WINDOW)
EXPAND CD /DVD ROM DRIVES
RIGHT CLICK ON SELECTED DVD/CD DRIVE
SELECT PROPERTIES

1.SELCT DRIVER ( CLICK UPDATE DRIVER)
2.CHECK DVD REGION CODE.
3.UN-INSTALL DRIVER
4. REINSTALL DRIVER AGAIN(AFTER STEP 3)

OR
IN DEVICE MANAGER RIGHT CLIVK DVDCD ROM DRIVE
UN-INSTALL DRIVER

OK

REBOOT COMPUTER

ADD HARDWARE(CONTROL PANNEL)
IT WILL PROPMPT FOR INSTALLATION OF DRIVER
SAY OK.
PROCEED WITH WINDOW INSTRUCTIONS
DVD/CD ROM DRIVER WILL GET INSTALLED AFRESH.

Drivers


If you are installing a DVDROM on a computer running Windows 98/2000/XP or Vista you do not need drivers.

May i ask why you need drivers what problem are you experiencing. ?

go to control panel, system, hardware, device manager, locate the drive, right click update driver, if fails, try windows update, if that fails google search for make and model and include "driver download"
