Blank Screen, no beeps, New Build

System:
Asus P5N-E SLI
Quad 2 Core Q6600 2.4 8mb L2 Cache 1066 mhz FSB
2x Kingston DDR2 2gb PC2 6400
Geforce 8500 GT
580 W

I get a Blank screen but no beeps when powering up the Computer. all fans spin, harddrives and dvdroms work.
Have been told from where i bought the mobo that it works. have tested the mem cards one by one and together and they work fine. I tested with 2 different videocards and still nothing. Tested the mobo outside the chassi in its on box still nothing.

I wanted to confirm something about no beeps, meaning to say no beeps at all even your video adapter? If that is the case, it only points to one problem which is might be your MOBO. You mentioned that all of the hardware devices seems to be working pretty much fine, including the memory modules and even the fan.

You mentioned you tested two different video adapters from the same MOBO and even overhauled that MOBO from the other chassis still doesn't work. From that point of view, it was already pretty obvious. According to IBM error codes, no beeping sounds the problem might be MOBO or the PSU.

Here's another catch, try another power supply unit and see if it works. If it does, it only means that the PSU isn't dissipating the correct amount of electricity ( DC ) on your system unit.

Hi Durmo, your troubles may be the SLI card. If you are using a single 8500GT make sure your SLI card is plugged into the motherboard as a single graphics card. See page 3-9 in your manual. If your 8500GT has dual out puts check both for display. Only one will show you display.
If you have this set correctly & you have tested your monitor on another system (& it is good) yet no display from the system than contact Asus. This board was make in 2007 & is warranted up to 2010. You can do this online or call Asus at 1-812-282-2787 M-F EST. Other countrys click the dropdown menu at Asus home page. http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=473&model=1474&modelmenu=1

Post if you need more info.
Good luck!

No beep because you have not had the chance to set the bios to boot to a single [PCI-E], page 2-31 in manual.

Can the motherboard asus p5vd2-mx admit a q6600?

The Q6600 will physically fit (LGA775) that Motherboard but it will probably not work. Attached is a list of supported processors and it looks like this motherboard does not support Kentfield based processors.

What type of dual core processor can I use for my dc7600?

The motherboard for the dc7600 has an Intel LGA775 processor socket. However, not all LGA775 processors are compatible with the motherboard. For the small form factor, the following CPUs are supported: Intel Celeron D Processors:
Intel Celeron D 331 Processor (2.66-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 336 Processor (2.80-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 346 Processor (3.06-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium 4 Processors with HT Technology:
Intel Pentium 4 521 Processor (2.8-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 524 Processor (3.06-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 541 Processor (3.2-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 620 Processor (2.8-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 631 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 640 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 641 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 650 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 651 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 661 Processor (3.6-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) or
Intel Pentium D Dual Core Processors:
Intel Pentium D 805 Dual Core Processor (2.66-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 915 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 925 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 930 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 940 Dual Core Processor (3.2-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 945 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 950 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

Unfortunately, these are old processors and I don't see any available new. Newegg.com lists a couple available as refurbished. You may be better off getting a new computer with either a Intel I3 or current AMD processor.

I wish that I had better news for you.

buy any motherboard BUT asus.
asus tech support is rubbish.
i run my system on an ASROCK motherboard.
excellent boards, 2500mhz bus, can handle any cpu, most have 4 ram slots.

Which One To Choose?

What are you going to use the computer for? Gaming? Or Office use?

The processor is on the high-end. It's actually overkill for normal word processing / internet surfing. It's pretty good if the computer is for gaming.

Your motherboard is okay, but not great. Perfect for office use, but I wouldn't recommend it for gaming. It will not be very upgradable. It lacks RAID, and SLI/Crossfire support, and it only has two slots for ram, not four, making upgrading your RAM expensive.

My suggestion for a motherboard is the Asus P5N-D:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=627&l4=0&model=2033&modelmenu=1

That one has RAID, SLI, two PCI Express ports, four ram slots, and also has a 5.1 sound card built in.

If you do decide to upgrade your video card, I suggest an NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX. They're about $200 and quite good for gaming.

Don't forget the other things your computer needs:
450 watt PSU or better
cpu fan, chassis fan
thermal grease / silicone paste

Cant run 3E GHz 800 FSB L2 cache 1MB cpu on a ASUS P4P800s-x

here are the specs.
CPU FSB DDR DIMM Type Memory Frq.
800Mhz PC3200/PC2700/PC2100 400/333/266 Mhz
533Mhz PC2700/PC2100 333/266 Mhz
400Mhz PC2100 266 Mhz

the CPC and the moemories meets these spec. then you shouldn't have problem.
since you didn't spec the meories. I am assuming that the meories are within specs.

but, from what you say about, I suspect the memories is not up to part. looks like the meories are in PC 2100 range.

Insight/Decision help on new motherboard purchase.

talk about what you want with a computer repair shop
logically if the mobo is out of date , then you should be looking at the latest mobo and duel or quad core cpu
next all the os ,files and folders are on the hard drive and that can be installed in any new pc and will start and run
you have to consider this , the amount of ram has a bearing on the speed or the pc as it is used by the pc as a storage space as it moves data around as it performs the various operations
new mobo have 2 ram slots for 4gig ram sticks but you say that you only have 1gig of ram--compare 1 against 8 and see how much easier the pc will run
AS is said , talk with pc professionals ( not retailers ) and get the best advice before you flash the cash
