Question about Dell XPS M1530 Notebook
So it is not on the internet then?

You can't get to google from a "fake" page without opening a new window. You are working offline with your homepage and google is on the internet. I am not sure how you got this to work. I would be happy to help you put your homepage on the internet with a google search bar if you like. You should have gotten some web space with your ISP and if not there are others that offer free space. I have designed hundreds of web pages. Let me know. It is not difficult. However, you would need to copy and paste your document here so that I could have the content and write it in html.
Okay, you can open it as a homepage but it is stored on your computer, no one else can see it ,so it is still essentially an offline document. When I design a page I do it on my hard and save it as an html docu and work on it that way until I'm ready to upload it to the internet. However any Internet facilities like google or links to my online pages will always open in a new window, becasue they are on the interent and I am not with the docu I am working on. Even though you can open it in IE doesn't mean that it is on the internet. It is visible only to you.
Good Luck to you and like I said I will certainly help you design an onlineline homepage for your document if you want. This would be a service to you and a learning experience with no charge. Then you will be able to access anything you want .
You can go to Start>Control panel>Internet settings>Tabs>settings> and at the bottom of that little window check the way you want new windows to open. This may work for you. I have never even needed this facility, but there you go-maybe a change here will work for you!

If you do not have a domain name you can use a free service such as
http://www.tripod.lycos.com/
Your user name that you sign up with will become part of your domain name such as www.tripod.lycos.com/neetfreek.html
Just let me know how I can help you with this and I'll be happy to.

it is NOT A REAL WEBSTIE. it is a fake homepage made from ms publisher 07.
i mean i made a homepage that is out of a simple document. it is not actually on the internet but it is saved as a html ie7 document too. I can open it in IE. when i do i can set the homepage to: C:\Users\UserName.ComputerName\Documents\index.htm
When it is finally set as my hopemage and i open IE and i want to go to a website suchas google.com, it says something about securlity zones and open google in a new window. I want it to open in the same window.
you will help me make a document and put it online. What about the domain name
Copy for me here the source code of your homepage, please. Go to your page>then page in the toolbar> then scroll down to source >then select all and copy then paste it here, so that i can see what you have and what your problem might be. Otherwise you can just give me the addy of your hompage and I'll go look at the source code myself.
