START SIMPLE, ARE THE BATTERIES FRESH? WAS THE CAMERA WORKING BEFORE THIS ERROR? HAVE YOU DONE A POWER UP, POWER DOWN RESET MODE? DID THAT DO ANYTHING? DID THE CAMERA SIT FOR A LONG TIME IDLE WITH THE BATTERIES IN IT? DO ANY OTHER FUNCTIONS WORK? I HATE TO ASK SO MANY QUESTIONS BUT I NEED A BASE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THIS LAPSE. ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO CAMERA? ANY HEAT/COLD EXTREMES? MOISTURE? FOR NOW I NEED INFO, I WON'T ABANDON YOU IN MIDSTREAM, JUST GET ME SOME INFO AND I WILL CONTINUE ON FROM THAT POINT! THANKS! Hi Keith, The link below is the user manual for the Pentax Optio E30 Digital Camera, On page 56 it says
• In Green Mode, you cannot change the information displayed on the LCD monitor by pressing the 4/W button.
• You cannot use the [A Rec. Mode] menu or Capture Mode Palette in Green Mode. If you try to display the [A Rec. Mode] menu or Capture Mode Palette, - (key lock icon) appears.
• If you switched to Q mode from Green Mode, you cannot display the [H Setting] menu by pressing the 3 button. If you try to display the [H Setting] menu, - (key lock icon) appears.
• When the camera is turned off in the Green Mode, it turns on in the Green Mode next time the power switch is pressed.

Redeye

Red-eye is actually caused by the light from the flash bouncing off the back of the retina and picking up the color red from the blood vessels. To correct this effect, follow these steps: Turn the mode dial to PlayBack Mode (green arrow) and display the image with redeye. Press OK\Menu button. Using the arrow pad, navigate to MODE MENU>EDIT>REDEYE FIX. Press the right arrow key, START will display. Press OK\Menu After {BUSY} bar displays, a screen will display with an option to cancel or save the image. ? If the option [Go] is displayed, press the OK\Menu button. This saves a corrected version of the image. ? If the option CANCEL is displayed, than the camera was unable to correct the image. Press the left arrow key to exit. This correction may not work on all pictures. If you import the original image into Olympus Master software you can also apply the Red-Eye fix located in the Edit menu. This lets you precisely pinpoint the eye area and remove the red. It even lets you remove green or blue, which can occur with animals.
