ASUS A2500H Sound and Start up problems

Two things.
First thing is the old when i start up cant start because either fastfat.sys or isapnp.sys is not there or corrupted however this is only when the computer has not been on for about 4mins then if i turn it off and on again works a treat(also reformated and didnt fix the driver problem).
Second thing is the speakers sound blown, thought nothing of this until i tried headphones and they definitly arent blown but they sound it when coming from the laptop so im guessing its the sound card. can anyone help me with this also if you know a site that had pics of how to take the backplate off of this model would be handy seems to be some hidden clips or soemthing.

Try this to invade the innards:
- Take off any plates (covers) on the bottom to look for tiny screws that pass through the plastic of the case.
Remove those that qualify.

I am blessed with excellent fingernails which happen to be perfect for popping the edges of many cases (along with remotes and other 'stuff' mostly snapped together in China).
If you are not so equipped, try an old credit card and either way work your way around the entire edge to avoid snapping anything.

Another possibility is corrupt drivers so try to reinstall the drivers by deleting the sound card via the control panel and then rebooting.
Blindows - sorry, Windows should 'find' the card and do its thing.

If the box is equipped with "Line in," you might try inputting an external sound source from the "Line out' spigot.

PS: I doubt if you will find a separate sound card , it will likely be a chip on the board with contacts not solderable by human hands.

Good luck-

My computer wont start? error occurs "system32/drivers/isapnp.sys", when i try to reformat my pc, in windows set up, kernell debugging part it will stop and says PCI.sys is corrupt. i cannnot finish...

Try this, when you start your next reinstall dont format right away. first delete the partition and recreate it, after that do your format. You could have a bad sector and formating it is causing an issue.

How to solve the problem file isapnp.sys caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 5882 in d:/ xpclient/ base/boot/setup.c.

Something is wrong with the file system on the partition in which you try to install XP. Start the install again and this time when asked where do you want XP to be installed delete the old partition and create a new one.

On linux centos it doesn work

The CT4170 SoundBlaster "Vibra" cards are old 16-bit ISA PnP cards, and were not detected at install by Linux kernels 2.16.15-27. You need to get the "isapnptools" package from the Fedora or CentOS sites, and do the following:
2. Install isapnptools using dpkg -i path-to-downloaded file .
3. Create and edit file /etc/isapnp.conf and put the following contents in it:
(READPORT 0x0273)
(ISOLATE PRESERVE)
(IDENTIFY *)
(VERBOSITY 2)
(CONFLICT (IO FATAL)(IRQ FATAL)(DMA FATAL)(MEM FATAL)) # or WARNING (CONFIGURE CTL00f4/-1 (LD 0
(INT 0 (IRQ 5 (MODE +E)))
(DMA 0 (CHANNEL 0))
(DMA 1 (CHANNEL 1))
(IO 0 (SIZE 16) (BASE 0x0240))
(IO 1 (SIZE 2) (BASE 0x0300))
(IO 2 (SIZE 4) (BASE 0x0388))
(NAME "CTL00f4/-1[0]{Audio }")
(ACT Y)
))
(WAITFORKEY)
4. Run "isapnp /etc/isapnp.conf". If it reports errors, you must change configuration above (it is suited to my setup). Try "pnpdump -c" and put its output in /etc/isapnp.conf file. If it does not help, you must find the correct configuration manually, for example change port to 0x220. For full list of possible values run pnpdump. Note that if you change the configuration, you must change options for modprobe below.
5. Create and edit file /etc/modprobe.d/sbvibra and put the following options in it:
alias snd-card-0 snd_sb16
options snd_sb16 port=0x240 irq=5 dma8=0 dma16=1 isapnp=0
6. Run "update-modules"
7. Run "modprobe snd-card-0". If it works OK (check if "ls -l /dev/dsp" shows that file is present), perform the steps below to make setup permanent:
8. Append following line to /etc/modules:
snd-card-0
8. Go to system configuration (in GUI) and choose "Services". Enable "isapnp" service and tick option to start it at boot.
Hope this helps :)
