Display not showing

I have a Sharp R-1500. My display is not working, it doesn't show the numbers. I am looking for someone to come out to my house in Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Have you tried a simple reset by unplugging it leaving it off for a few minutes and replugging it? This is a simple reset.

If this does not work, you can indeed call a serviceman. Here is the Sharp number where they should be able to tell you the closest servce to you.
1-800-BE-SHARP (237-4277).

Before you agree to a service call, I would ask for the cost of a call ( it will be plus any parts, of course.) You may find that the cost of repair is prohibitive and decide to purchase a new microwave. I have read several opinions on this particular model and it seems that it is a problem that reoccurs for many people.

I wish I could give you better news. I hope that this helps you to make a decision.

The LCD display is not showing the numbers correctly. It looks like the numbers are missing "lines", like an 8 can look like a 3, the 8 can look like a 0, etc. Any ideas?
It is the control board that needs to be replaced. The LCD display is connected to the board. If this is an above the stove microwave the problem was caused by the steam from boiling water on the stove top. you can prevent it from happening again by using the vent fan consistantly.

Sharp uses a conductive strip between the display crystal and the circuit board. If you remove the board and pull out the conductive rubber strip, clean it with alcohol or an eraser then re assemble it. it might work Other wise, you have to replace the main circuit board as an assembly. Are you saying it's dead, with no display and no inside light when you open the door? And the fuse is good?

If so, you may have a bad magnetron temperature fuse. This device looks similar to the attached photo and is located near where the magnetron mounts.

You can usually find exploded views entering your model number at the Sears parts site.

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

Sharp microwave model R-510AK led screen only showing parts of numbers programed
This is a common problem. i havent completly solved it yet but this helps.


Be very careful doing this, There is Voltages with AMPERAGES high enough to boil your blood inside a microwave.

I had mine apart cleaning it. Only one number worked on my display. I wiggled and messed around with the wires in the back of the display. And almost every number in the display works again. Hope this helps.

Display only shows 8888 - display buttons do not work.
try a reset. unplug for 10 mins, plug it back, see if it will work.

if not , open the housing, see a ribbon cable from the touch pad to the main pc board. remove the ribbon cable for 1 min. re install it back and test the unit.

be sure to return all cover and screws of the unit before plugging it back. microwaves are hazardous to your health.
