Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Model 1023

The receiver (part 1024) for this mouse has stopped functioning - is it possible to purchase a new one separately from the mouse? The battery is ok, flashing red; the usb connecter is a steady green little light; but the pointer doesnt move....dont know why. Ive checked the MOUSE in Control Panel, no joy. Ive tried to check Hardware, nothing listed for this or any other optical mouse; Ive tried google and this is the first place where anyone recognizes the existence of the item, let alone it simply isnt recognized by my DELL Latitude laptop (and it USED to work perfectly; ditto for my DELL workstation... ).

I thought maybe it needs a driver ()tho it had none when I bought it, I just plugged it in and it worked).

ANY IDEAS?

I have the same problem. I open my laptop and the mouse works well.

After a few minutes, it stops and I get a message from Windows to the effect that it doesn't recognise my material. I bought that mouse from Future Shop and it was a rebuilt. I would not be surprised that the previous owner had the same problem too. Unfortunately, I think that the best--maybe the only solution-- is to buy a new mouse. Good luck.

Same problem. Sometimes I can plug in the the receiver into the usb port and it will work for a minute or so then it stops.

Had the same problem. There are 2 reset/ connect buttons: 1 on the mouse, and 1 on the usb device. Press the button on the usb device, and it should start right up. Good luck.

Replace a new battery. I had the same problem. The light from the mouse and the receiver were both on. The pointer works for about few minutes then stop working. I replaced the new battery and it works nicely again.

I made the mistake more than once packing the mouse and USB device when I transported my laptop. Both times when I tried to use the mouse - nada. The solution each time: a new battery. (I think the mouse rattles around in the bag during transport. Maybe next time I'll remember to remove the battery first!

windows should come with drivers for it, but microsoft.com has a full suite of intellipoint drivers available for all its mice which adds functionality windows drivers don't give it. If it is not working at all the problem is most likely not driver related.

try using an eraser on the contacts if you can reach them. Sounds like dirt/corrosion build-up.

MICROSOFT WIRELESS MOUSE NOT WORKING LIGHTS ON CURSOR NOT RESPONDING

I have the same problem with the 1023 MS wireless mouse. I called MS and they said that for a charge of $120 (the price of 1 yr service for my computer) they can fix the problem. I think it's cheaper to buy another (but different mfg) mouse. My computer operates quite well and don't believe I need this service.
Thanx...CPT

My green light on the receiver is ON. The mouse battery is new. The red LASER switches with movement. I read all of the posts, than I pulled apart the receiver and the wires were OK. There is a micro-switch in the receiver, so I pushed it when plugged in to the computer. The green light flashes, then I pushed the button on the bottom of the mouse, it connects. To make short of this, do not open the receiver case, just use a pen and push the green "connect" light (must be in USB port), it will activate reset switch and blink. Next, push "connect" on the bottom of mouse.
