KP-61HS10 with 6 blinks

I have replaced a shorted bad G-Board with a new one from Sony parts and now TV gives 6 blinks. Any Ideas to check for?

    Our TV was working perfectly one day and the next day we got the six blinking lights tried to turn it on.... no picture and no sound. Sony authorized repair person said high voltage coil and aud. block assembly needs to be replaced. At a cost of $580!

    We purchased the TV in 2002 and are wondering if this is the actual problem, a reasonable cost, and is the TV worth repairing. Given many bad reviews, is something else likely to go wrong?

    Hello, i have a KP FS 57 , I had the blue screen and adjusted the screen voltages as described in various articles and it worked perfectly. Now after an hour or 4 hours or somtimes 10 minutes TV shuts off and I get 6 blinks. To get it on again means unplugging it for several hours. The only obvious signs of problems is a occasionaly fizzing HV block, I live in a fairly remote part of Fiji so its fix it my way or dig a hole for it, any ideas? Its seems to be a similiar animal to others with KP in the product line, it has cathode ray tubes.

    Thanks for that, I am pretty handy with electronics the set works intermittently so It can't be a shorted transistor, the HV block has a slight case of internal arcing (again intermittently). There is no other visible signs of any kind bulging capacitors etc. So I am a bit lost and have no hope of getting anyone to look at it as i inherited it on a remote Island In Fiji in the South Pacific so any ideas would be helpful or I will have to dig a very big hole for it and that seems a awful waste, I have a manual for another similiar unit but not similiar enough, firstly I cant get into the diagnostic screen as I have a different remote. Sound is also intermittent but stays on once it starts (unless of course the six blinks kicks in again)

Most problably the flyback and the horizontal transistor is shorted out you will need a tech to make some tests and determine if they need to be replaced

Set screen voltages. To get to the adjustment board, take the front speaker grill off (two screws at the bottom left and right) and set it aside. No need to disconnect any wires. Then remove the plywood board with 4 screws that exposes the screen/focus adjustments. The top 3 adjustments are for focus, and you need not mess with these. The bottom 3 adjustments are for Red/Blue/Green screen voltage rough adjustments. My screen showed red lines, so I had to turn the bottom right adjustment with a philips head screwdriver just slightly until the red gun retrace lines where no longer visible.
Hope This Helps

SONY KP-61V90 tv will not power on, red light in front,

Its 2 times blink error code that shows +B volt supply (+135 volts) is shorted, most probably horizontal output transistor is shorted, replace it.
If you are good in soldering parts in circuit board then take out horizontal transistor, check it, found shorted then replace it with same number.

Horizontal output Transistor Q502 number is 2SD2578 and available in Part Store for $10
Let me know for further query, if any.

Sony 65 inch

Thanks for using FixYa. Ten blinks on Sony HDTV means-- Check Transistors Q8014 and Q8013 on D- Board for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections. If the transistors are bad, then also check R8051 and IC8005, these are also on the "D" board.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks Rylee

The tv goes on stand by mode by itself. My 57' sony does not turn on but remains in stand by mode. Blinks 9x then stops, then starts all over again. What needs to be done?

9 blink in your Sony KP-57WS500 shows error / problem in Audio section.

1= +19 volts &-19 volts are shorted by any reason on A and B board.
2= IC708 is faulty on A board
3= PS701 & PS702 (fuse) are open on A board.

Above are possible reasons of 9 blinks.
If you have electronics knowledge and have tv repair skills then check as per above info. otherwise I recommend get help of TV tech person or contact nearest Sony service center.
Thank you.
