I just spoke with tech support at Canon. They suggest using Canon photo paper. The technician did not know anything about Photoshop 8.0. He tells me that Photoshop is the issue. Do you have any suggestions for setting up color management in Photoshop 8.0. Thank you so much.

Well..this is a bit tricky..each monitor has a temperature setting, among other things. So, to tweak this sort of item takes quite a bit of understanding. I recommend that you bone up on the canon first, then backtrack through your monitor settings, then to Photoshop.

How do I print artwork getting all the colors to render accurately, so that it looks like the original painting.

Unfortunately you screen (computer or other ) isn't calibrated.
there is software mostly pro use this, but take a picture of a flat grey placard.
using your photo program to check the gamma settings and modify them until the grey on screen matches placard ( hold placard next to monitor). Then print out grey image.
important write down the gamma settings and when you put something to print check to see if these are close.

Print colour mismatch with monitor colour

Sorry to inform you but it never will
You can come pretty close by trial and error by twicking the colour
with your printer software or if you have the money you can buy a very expensive gadget that you stick on your monitor and it will read the colours
and match it with your printer Close but not perfect either
Trial and error is the best solution

THE COLOR PRINTOUT IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL PICTURE; HOW DO I ADJUST THE COLORS ON THE PRINTER TO MATCH THE ORIGINAL COLOR?

What you described can mean one of two things.

First, that your monitor is not correctly set up for the colors, this is unlikely unless you have altered your display settings.

Second, You are running low on a certain color ink.

Scanning is not producing accurate colors for all colors. For example, Halloween shade of orange scans as pure yellow and brown comes out quite pink. Tried shutting the machine down and restarting much...

You'll need to calibrate your printer in order for the prints to come out with the correct color. In addition to this, if you're printing from .pdfs, you can set Acrobat to "print as image", this also helps in correcting the colors as they appear on your monitor, although this is NOT as accurate in correcting color as the "calibration" part.

Hope this helps. :)

The printer does not prints exactly the colors that I see in my tft monitor.it seems that the printer adds a bownish filter in my images and prints them more dark-brownish. I print using ACDSee. I also...

Check your inks, especially the yellow, a bad printhead will allow the colors to cross contaminate. Usually yellow looks a brown color in the cartridge. You need to install a new printhead and toss any contaminated inks.

Screen colour not matching the printed pages

Unfortunately that's the age old problem of matching colors between computers and printers. Your printer is probably not the problem, that's why he couldn't fix it. Even though your monitor is set to default values it doesn't mean that your colors are correct as colors can vary from monitor to monitor and the color temperature is probably too high causing the colors to look lighter than the printout. The picture on the monitor may look good to you, but it's not set right for matching printer colors. Monitors use RGB (Red, Green & Blue colors) colors and printers use CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta & Black) colors and you have to make them get the results you want. You will have to do some tweaking of your monitor's settings to get it to match the printer output. Below are some links that will help explain things better and maybe help you adjust your monitor.

Canon MP610 - colours printed are not the same as on pc screen

This is likely because your monitor is not calibrated with your printer. Search for monitor color calibration online and then calibrate your colors to match the color profile used by the MP610, likely Adobe RGB or something similar.

2. image set to RGB color (Photoshop)

3. check driver settings
4. try another file
5. try another application
6. ¨supported / recommended¨ epson paper & inks
7. another computer (to pin down where issue is happening)

8. all else fails - the printer needs service (better check your warranty status)
