The above solution works. However you end up loosing the preferences tab from the setup menu and there is no way to reset the player. However once its region free who needs the preference tab again except that you loose the warranty.

Philips DVD player DVP3996 is giving wrong region error


Hello
To set your Philips DVP region free, do the folloing.

Press "Setup"
Scroll to "Preference" using the Left/Right arrow key
Press OK
Press "138931" and a popup screen will appear
Use the Up arrow key and select Region 0 for a region free DVD player
OK.

Need to change dvd player to play region 1 discs philips dvp 3120


1) Go to Setup page
2) Go to Preference page
3) Press 138931
4) Press up/down key to select region code (Use 1 if you wish or just select 0 to remove the region limitation altogether and play discs from anywhere.)

How To Make Region Free:

press Setup
select the Preference Tab
Press 1 3 8 9 3 1
Press up/down key to select "0"
and press Setup to exit.

If you can't get into Preferences Tab, you may need to press the stop button twice first, then press setup.

Unlock region code for Philips DVP 3256


Region code hack for PHILIPS 3256 x/94

1. Go to Setup. [from remote]
2. Select the Preference Page.
3. Press 1, 3, 8, 9, 3, 1 on the Philips DVD Player remote.
--> It will show current region code [ for example 5 ]
4. Now Press the up/down key to select "0" which makes it region free.
5. Press ok and exit setup.

Probably the same would be applicable for 3258, 3268, 3986.

Wrong Region message


DVD player must be made region free by unlocking it.. after that you can play all the discs you want.. for ubnlocking it you can try google//

DVP 3120


I have a problem with my DVP 3120. Nothings happended when I pressed the numbers and now it won't select the preferences page anymore. Maybe I have to reset it too (but I didn't have to typ in any region) but how do I do that?
I wonder if anyone had that same problem and how they solved it. Thanks in advance.
