I've taken out the screws and the front and back still don't come apart. It appears as though there are screws under the cover of the hot shoe, but they appear to be screwed in from the bottom of the flash shoe. any suggestions

How to change battery

Hi, try:

To install the battery:

Note: To open the battery door, you will need a paper clip or thin pen.

1. Take the paper clip and use the end to press down on the door latch.

2. Holding the latch down, push the battery door up.

3. The door will slide up and spring open, allowing you to access the batteries.

4. Place the battery into the compartment. Be sure to match the (-) on the

battery with the (-) inside the compartment.
5. Slide the battery cover to its original

The door that keeps the batteries and memory card will not stay closed. Can it be fixed?

Mine is broken also. There are 2 tabs in the cover and 2 raised slots on the camera body. When you open the battery compartment, you are supposed to slide the lid forward releasing the tabs from the slots, before the cover pops open. If you don't do this, you ~will~ break the tabs (or the raised slots). Well someone who didn't know this got a hold of my camera tried to force the compartment door open, breaking the raised slots that are part of the camera body.
Take a close look at yours and figure out how this latch is supposed to work and then see which part is broken. If it's the tabs on the door you can buy a replacement door online (do a search) and have someone good with electronics install it. (requires soldering). If (like me) it's the slots on the camera body that are broken, then it's not repairable. The original parts are too small and flimsy to be repaired (designed to fail). My best idea is to find some other way to latch the door closed. I've tried a velcro strap but it doesn't hold the lid tight enough and I've looked in hardware and craft stores for some kind of latch that might work, if I could atach it to the outside of the door somehow, but haven't found anything suitable (it would have to be small but sturdy and attach to the thin plastic of the door)
I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler because they work with very small parts and might have something that could be screwed into the plastic door and camera body.
If you know of a better fix, please let me know.

Fuji S5000 camera problem....The battery door will not latch because the cheap plastic retaining nipples inside the battery box have worn down/or broken. Tape will not even hold door closed! The retainers...

You could use a piece of velcro as a strap but I would start looking at ebay or other places for the parts to fix it. Sooner or later someone will sell it.

I have Fujifilm Finepix S1000. The battery door does not close. Is there a place on-line I can purchase a battery door? Thank you.

I know this is an old question, but when I had this problem I came across several forums that had the "tape it" or "drill a hole and screw it shut" solutions. Some even gave step by step instructions on taking the camera apart and replacing the battery compartment with one from a camera bought for parts. I even contacted Fujifilm for an estimate. All were either expensive, ineffective or damaging. The solution I came up with was to go to the Camera Exchange and buy a Quick Release plate used for tripods. One that was long enough to cover the battery door. It screws into the tripod mount on the back and holds the door closed. No damage, no hole drilling and it works. Also only cost me $8. Win!

Camera door thats holds battery small grey latch is broken

Try partstore.com they might be able to solve your problem. Also look at the latch and determine if it is attached to the front of the camera case or the back of the camers casing I am assuming it is attached to the back then you might consider caling HP back and ordering the Back or Front cover Assembly. Small pieces like this usually don't come by themselves you have to order an assembly, so when when u call for parts ask for Back cover assembly or front cover assembly, which ever it is attached to or apart of. Asking for a perticular piece they will not usually know what you need. You have to talk to them in technical terms.. Hope this helps you out...

I have a Fuji FinePix S5000 and the battery door catches (on the body of the camera) have broken off. Replace complete body assy??? I am sure mine is not the only one. any help appreciated.

I had this problem also (see below).

After getting poor results with the duct tape solution, I discovered another work-around. This should work whether it is chipped lugs on the door or on the body.

Firstly I used an old camera flash bracket that screws into the tripod socket, and this holds the battery door in place quite securely. However it was too long, so I cut and filed a piece of aluminium 25mm (1") wide by 2.5mm thick to the right length (around 100mm/4") and shape, and made a hole for the bracket screw.

End result is not exactly like new, but more functional than the duct tape and does not further damage the actual camera:

Sony Cyber-Shot Battery Compartment Door Broken

I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.
I hope this was helpful.

Here's the seller I bought the door from. Hopefully the seller has more doors. =) :
