The error you are seeing is because a piece of your software such as internet explorer has been corrupted or deleted the cd rom your pc is asking for is a system resore disc. find yourself an xp disc if that is the os you are using and do a repair that should fix your issue

How to make vaio recovery disc for

Follow these steps to create your recovery discs.

From within the VAIO
Recovery Center application, under Choose a program, click Create Recovery Discs.

NOTE: The VAIO Recovery Center can be accessed from within Windows Help and Support. Click Backup & Recovery, then click Launch VAIO Recovery Center.

Next to Create Recovery Discs window, click the Start button.

In the When recovery discs are needed window, click the Next button.

In the Choose your media window, click the Next button.

NOTE: Although an option is provided for creating Dual Layer (DL) discs, that option will not produce usable discs on this model. Ensure the Create recovery disc(s) using... DVD(s) option remains selected before clicking Next.

Insert a blank, recordable DVD into the DVD drive.
In the Insert a blank disc window, click the OK button.

Insert a new disc when necessary as instructed.
When all the disks have been created, click the Finish button.

NOTE: After the recovery discs have been created the first time, any disc can be created again by selecting the disc from the list and clicking Next.

Emachine dvd drive quit working says I'm missing

This driver is usually loaded with windows and is not available to the support site ..but you can try just in case..I think this is caused by a virus that attacked the drive ..and the fix is to engage the recovery partition or use a disk to reinstall the operation system ..I advice this way ..cause I did had this issue before ...more than once ..and even if you get to device manager and reinstall the driver from the system memory is already affected and will do the same after a a few minutes..or to the next restart ..
let me know if you need something in order to proceed ..
I suggest to use the recovery cause it has a much simpler procedure ..
Good luck !

It looks like you'll have to either return it or perform a default factory recovery. These instructions are from their site but proceed knowing that this will erase any data that is stored on the primary partition (meaning if you have anything on it, it's gone...). Esentially it resets it to a point as if you just picked it up in the store (which you did.. :( )

How can I restore my computer with the backup discs I created?
With user created backups you are able to restore your computer to the factory default settings. If backup discs were created instead of factory restore discs, these can be used instead and will restore the system to a user backup point.
If you have a recovery disk:

How can I restore my computer with the backup discs I created?
With user created backups you are able to restore your computer to the factory default settings. If backup discs were created instead of factory restore discs, these can be used instead and will restore the system to a user backup point.
    1. Ensure that the computer is completely shutdown, then turn on the computer.
    2. When the eMachines splash screen appears, tap the Alt and F10 keys simultaneously. A screen stating "Starting eMachines eRecovery" should appear.
    3. From the recovery options, choose Restore system from CD/DVD.
    4. Insert either the first Recovery or Backup disc that you created.
    5. From the on-screen options, choose a backup.
    6. Click OK and the installation will begin.
    7. Change the disc as necessary when prompted.

If you do not have a recovery disk:

    8. Restart the computer.
    9. When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
    10. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
    11. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

Acer aspire 5532, windows 7, 64 bit. No backups or recovery disks. Created a repair iso disk to access (from online torrent) x partition has set up files. Recovery shows no OS. D drive has been...

Just find a generic Win 7 install disk (borrow one from a friend) and use it to install - the key for it should be on the sticker. This will fix everything else, including the botched install problems. Later download and install its drivers yourself from here

My GE1101P dvd player says no disc when I load. Also make a small grinding noise when I load to disc. It works some times but is saying no disc more often. Can I clean it or do something to repair it?

I would try running a cleaner disc in it first.
If youre not scared to open the case ( WITH AC UNPLUGGED)
try finding the laser lens and clean with swab of 90% alcohol

Issue with opticaldrive and creating factory default disc

most of the time to create recovery disks you have to use about 7 cds, 2 DVDs, 1 blueray or double layer. some systems also use DVD+R, when you start the disk creation it would tell you what it requires, your best option (if compatible) would be using 2 DVDs-R. On the other hand if you inserted the cd and it turned a few revs. most likely it is ruined already so you have to use a new disk.
if it is a brand new pc you should be able to use DVD. here is a tutorial for HP and it is pretty similar for most computers

if it works for you don't forget to rate me

I bought a ET1331G-03w at Wal-Mart. I want to create recovery disks. I follow the instructions given with the product....For Windows 7 click (start)> All programs>emachines> eMachines Recovery...

What type of disks are you using? You cannot use DVD RW. You need to use DVD - R . I have had this very issue. Hope this helps.

PS, once it tries to write to a dvd and fails, try a new one.

I have an acer extensa 4620z and te is a screen that says windows failed to start how do i restore it to factory setting?

First try to perform windows restore using the original Windows cd.
Boot from the cd and in Windows setup, choose to restore (not to re-install/ fresh installation).
If cannot then, when you first bought it you should have a recovery cd or similar. You should read the manual.
If you only have a drivers cd (motherboard, sound, vga/graphic adapter, LAN, etc.) and Windows cd then last attempt is to re-build/re-install windows from beginning. Don't forget to backup.

Problem with burner after removing hijacked file

It depends what HP PC you have, it should say on the front or on the labelling on the back, but most HP's do not ship with recovery (software) CD's. Instead they have an inbuilt recovery system that runs from the Hard Disk Drive and will run a non-destructive recovery by default, in other words it will restore the PC's factory shipped software without destroying your personal data. Even so, if you have an external HDD or another option it's always a good idea to backup your personal info before you run recovery. To access the recovery system on a Windows XP based HP PC you can: 1: Click either Start, then All Programs, then HP Tool, then HP System Recovery Or on some models: Start, then All Programs, then PC Help & Tools, then HP System Recovery 2: Keep pressing the F10 key from the moment you switch the PC on and following the on screen instructions. Or on a Windows Vista based HP PC: 1: Click Start, then All Programs, then Recovery Manager, then Recovery Manager again 2: Keep pressing F11 key from the moment you switch the PC on until it says "Windows is loading files..." on screen, once Recovery Manager loads click advanced options, select system recovery, select "backup your files first" and follow the on screen instructions. With some model HP's your PC will look the same as ever when you restart but with others your personal data will be in a folder within the Documents & Settings folder on your C: drive. If you need any more help message back.
