-check your speakers, power on, volume on
-in your computer, in the bottom right corner do you see a speaker icon? like this: computer hp 2.8ghz - 2e1cfbf.jpg double click it and make sure its not set on mute and also make sure that the volume is not on minimum, put it to max or middle.

if this doesn't solve the problem, leave another comment and i will post something else for you to try.

please rate the solution after we have solved the problem, not yet.

Hp audoi driver problem

Go to this page courtesy of HP:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3253998&lang=en#

On this page in the original drivers section you'll see where it says Fall 2006 Original Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers

Click on that link and on the next page click on the download only button and it will allow you to download the software for the audio in your computer. Download it to your computer to a location that you will remember and then after the download. double-click on the file and let it run. This should install the sound drivers for you and you might have to let the computer reboot one time.

Give this a try and this should take care of the problem, if it does then please rate me, if it doesn't then let me know and I'll help you further.

Replaced the ink cartridges and now cannot print from the computer

you need to uninstall the printer and reinstall it, it sound like you lost some drivers that help it talk to the computer.

thanks
hope this works for you

Sound Card

that sound card is unlikely to work with xp..those are 2000 machines, and the chipsets aren't that flexible. you may need to change sound card too, to one compatible with xp(like soundblaster).
