Hi, I have a Kenmore 70 Series Washer. Model number 110.20722990 Serial Number: CK 2634528. It has been running like a dream until today :( Started a load in the washer, filled fine, agitated fine, drained fine, when it went to the spin cycle, it started making this awful metal on metal grinding noise, and while looking at it, i noticed that the agitator is not spinning. I would like to fix this myself if at all possible, so if you could please give me some suggestions to try, or walk me through how to figure out exactly what it is, i would greatly appreciate it. It is likely that a tissue or paper product was included with the wash load. The series 70 does not have a lint trap. At the hose connection to the house drain lint has been known to build up restricting the emptying. This buildup would not introduce lint into the washer.

If the water temperature is very very cold and you use powder detergent it will not dissolve completely into the water and will leave a white residue on the fabrics.

Try running a short load in the washer allowing for ample water to rinse out the machine before the next wash load.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.Sounds like a failed motor coupler part number 285753. It connects the motor to the trans. You can lean the unit back to change this part. Remove the pump remove the motor and you will see it.

most likely you have a sock or, some cloth obstructing the pump.
you will have to bail out the water then: remove the Sears 700 series 4screws holding the washer's control panel and, remove the washer side clips under the panel to remove the washer's sides then remove the 8 pump screws to remove the pump face and, remove the obstruction. the

Kenmore 70 series. Model/Stock 66702692 Serial MG2402832

Cycle Signal works but then won't shut off until I open up the dryer door - it just keeps buzzing for hours. Also the dryer will turn on if I close the door ( and arrow is within a number and not on off) without pressing the start button. So if door is closed - the dryer will run or buzz (depending on arrow). How do I fix this?

You most likely have a broken coupler between the motor and gearcase.
You can buy the part for about $10 or have someone come out and replace it for about $150-200.
If you will post the complete model number from the the washer so I can see which style cabinet you have, I will try to walk you through the repair. It isn't very complicated if you are handy with home repairs.
With the age of the machine it probably just needs a coupler, but it could also have a problem in the transmission or basket drive that has caused the failure.
