Will not turn off, will not print text, poor quality pictures
My Kodak 5500 AIO has the following problems.
1. It will not turn off. I had a paper jam and had to pull paper out the front. Now it spools blank sheets when I try to print.
2. It will not print text from any wordprocessing program, word 97, note pad, word pad. It will sound like it communicates but eject a blank page. Not so with pictures. I will give a poor quality picture.
Note: I've spent a day following all the advice from kodak, replacing new ink cartridges, recalibrating, deep clean, etc.rebooting, turning off and disconnecting from power. When I print "diagnostic sheet" it spools out blank paper until I unplug the machine. At one time I got Fatal Error Code
call Service. Error Code 3813. Now, I think, with the paper jam it is beyond that code with problems.
Thanks for any help you can offer.I bought this machine on June 8, 2007 and had problems that got fixed. My KSN is F057186

actually, I bet you cannot print text either. It will come out very faded or completely blank. It is an issue with the printhead, on the black ink cartridge side. You can try cleaning it using the printer itself (Menu -- clean printhead -- deep clean ). IF you have the same problem, contact kodak aio support @ 1 800 421 6699 (open til midnight on ET) or go to www.kodak.com/go/atg and follow the troubleshooting steps there to fix the problem or replace the PH.
It is the print head. Cleaning the heads does not do any good, either does replacing the ink. What you'll need to do is contact Kodak's customer service line and they can replace it for you free of charge. On this site everyone seems to be saying it is consistently the black that stops, however, based on what Kodak said it is possible that either the black or the color can have this same issue.
When you call in they will ask you for your service number, which is located on the bottom left corner of the machine, when you lift the lid (as if you were going to replace the ink). They didn't ask me when I bought it, how much I used it, etc.
They will set up a case for you - it takes 2-3 business days for the print head to arrive. They will provide you with an invoice number as well. Be sure to document it all just incase the head never comes, or if there are additional issues after you receive it (and/or if it doesn't solve the problem)
