Re: Laptop Heating up
this is a general problem, with most laptops not just Acer.
the more modern-faster and more memory installed, all contribute to these factors. battery power is standard for lasting anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours. 2 main causes of overheating, are that the fan exhaust outlet may be blocked or restricting warm air extraction from the cpu. secondly the heatsink material ( Thermal-Patch Or Paste ) between cpu and heatsink, is insufficient. there are other reasons but these are the 2 most common. if the laptop is warranted, i,d suggest returning it, for repair/replacement. if it isn,t then locate the cpu fan, and clean out any dust build up, usually between the fan and outer casing.

Dear Kristen, 1. Your laptop is running slow because there are too manyapplications running in the background.Go through the start menu and remove them if you don't need them. 2. Defragment your hard disks. Use a tool such as O & O Defrag Pro. 3. Your Acer heating up is a normal issue. Some older acer laptops heat up quite a lot. This is not an issue in laptops purchased after 1/1/2010. If you are worried, get your laptop checked and serviced by a qualified technician or just simply hand it over to the nearest service center.
Please remove the laptop battery and disconnect the Ac power. Then press POWER ON button and hold for 1-2 minutes. Then power on with the AC adapter only. Then start the laptop. It will powered on. After that shutdown laptop and reinsert the laptopbattery.
Even it wont work, remove the battery, hard disk and ram. Just insert the RAM and try to check the display. then insert hard disk and check the working nature of laptop on AC power only..

Most of the time it charges to 80% in a hour and 100% in two hours if the laptop is still under warranty then I would return other wise you will have to buy new battery for laptop. go to following link if you have to buy http://www.battdepot.com/?gclid=CJCMt-Onrp4CFQifnAodu3TAmw
If you mean like squares of pixels then it will be the video memory on your video card failing or over heating.
Check the video card and make sure it's not clogged with hair and dust etc and reseat it. Also use good thermal paste when you put it back together between the heat sink and the GPU.
If that fails to improve things then a new video card will sort it right out.
You could always send it to me.. I have a thing for Ferrari's ;)
well I hope you got some knowledge on how to open the thing up or you will need to get the service manual
