Question about Alps MD 5000 Thermal Printer

3 Answers

Diagnostics Mode Can anyone tell me what the button sequence is to enter the diagnostics mode on a MD-5000 (I believe it is the same for the MD-1300 as well).

There is no website (if there is, please give me the link). The manual does not contain the button sequence.

What buttons are pushed in what order and what timing to get the diagnostics print out?

  • paragonc Aug 20, 2008

ALPSUSA has a web site but there is nothing there for the MD printers. That was removed years ago. If there is a web site that you are aware of, please give me the URL (address) - that would be helpful, your previous input was not. However, there is nothing in the manual about the button sequence to print the diagonistics page (to look for print head dropouts, the number of pages printed, etc.). I already have a manual for the MD-1300 so I can say with certainty that info is not in the manual.

Dosen't anyone know the button sequence? That's all I am asking for. What is the button sequence used to print the diagnostics page(s)?

You can find that at their website, under tutorials or get the user guide there.

so , you are saying that ALPS has no website? That's unusual. And with an inappropriate, we're a tad confused about how to further assist you.

I have a 1998 Plymouth voyager and the climate control lights are flashing. I ran a test i found on the internet and got it down to two lights flashing(the ac and the recirculate). I got it to where the...

OK got your message on the other post (About the van) I am assuming that your Voyager is equipped with Automatic Climate Control. Follow the instructions below and you will get a better idea of what is wrong with your system.

Calibration/Diagnostics
1. To enter calibration/diagnostics test, set parking brake. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. With engine idling, turn blower switch to high. Turn mode switch to panel. Open all outlets. Move temperature to full cold.
2. Press and hold rear wash and rear wiper buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds (Until ALL LEDs illuminate). All LEDs should illuminate for 5 seconds. Rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper button LEDs will flash alternately during calibration/diagnostics test.
3. After approximately 60 seconds, if only the rear wiper button LED is flashing, calibration is successful and the system is okay. If rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper button LEDs are flashing, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are present. (See "Reading Diagnostic Codes" below)
4. To exit calibration/diagnostics test at any time, press the rear window defogger button, rear wiper button, or cycle the ignition off and then on. Test will automatically terminate 15 minutes after calibration/diagnostics is entered.

Reading Diagnostic Codes
1. Perform calibration/diagnostics test. If a DTC is present after calibration/diagnostics test has been performed, system will flash rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper button LEDs in sequence. Rear wiper represents code level, and intermittent rear wiper button LED represents code value.
2. Each time the rear wash button is depressed, rear wiper button LED wil cycle to the next code level in numeric sequence. After code level 5 is reached, rear wiper button LED will cycle back to code level 1. See table below.

Ice maker not dropping ice, the switch is on, and the ice has been in the tray for quite some time now

POWER ON DIAGNOSTICS TEST MODE When the ice maker is first connected to power and the thermistor temperature is 50°F or more, the control will initiate a “Power On” test before entering the freeze cycle. The test will consist of the following sequence:
1)Turn on the motor until it reaches home position
2)Turn on the water valve for 1/2 second
3)Turn on the heater for 1/2 second
4)Verify that the feeler arm was in the “in” and then the “out” position.
5)Verify that the motor was not in the home position and then in the home position.
6)Verify that the motor does not remain on after being turned off.
7)Proceed to the freeze cycle. SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS TEST MODE During the first 15 seconds that power is first applied to the ice maker, the Service Diagnostics Test mode may be entered. The Service Mode is entered by pushing the feeler arm in and out three times within 15 seconds. (only three times). There will be only one fill cycle (5.1 second) in the service diagnostics mode without the waiting period for the mold to “pre-chill”. If the ice maker has already started a harvest cycle and the arm is moving, it may be impossible to start the service mode. (since the NORMAL cycle is already started). While in the “Power On Diagnostics” test mode, the “Service Diagnostic” test mode can be initiated and will override the “Power On Diagnostics” test mode. This ice maker has no replacement parts available and is not intended to be repaired.

I have a Xerox XC1020 copier with a code H3. What does this mean?

Hi,

The H3 code is a fuser high temperature code.. First fix is to power down and let the machine cool down..

Failing that, I couldn't find a clearance method for that particular machine but most of the machines in this category had the same control panels for years so it might work.

This is for an XC811 machine, same family, so it might work. If any of the controls mentioned are not on your machine then you need to contact the helpdesk if it still exists or a local copier repair place who should know how to clear the codes.

"To enter diagnostics: Turn on the power and within 4 seconds press the following sequence: ‘Clear’, ‘Exposure Mode’, ‘Clear’, ‘Exposure Mode’ (Exposure Mode is the button on the far left). The console will go completely blank.

To enter a code: Select the first part of the code using the copy quantity buttons, followed by the ‘Print’ button, then the second part of the code followed by the ‘Print’ button again.

To exit diagnostics: Press ‘Clear’ repeatedly or turn the power off.

*To clear a fuser code:(14) Enter diagnostics, select ‘14’ followed by ‘Print’… exit diagnostics.

H3 stands for high temperature at the fuser."

If it persists then you have a fuser fault that will probably need to be replaced.
And as I said, this is not specifically for your machine but the clearance codes for Xerox machines tend to be similar.

Good Luck!!

Reset code

I believe the reset sequence is accomplished by pushing the NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons in that sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the CANCEL button. Let me know if this helps.
