Do you mean it won't match light or the ignitor won't spark and light the burners? Or both?

If it won't match light or the ignitor sparks, but the burners don't light, that means you're not getting gas to the burners.

Check to the tank valve and make sure it's turned ON. Also, make sure that there's gas in the tank.
If both of those check out as OK, turn the gas tank valve OFF. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and the flame height looks correct? If so, light the remaining burners following the same procedure. Now, are they all lit and the flames heights look correct? If so, you solve the problem. Just remember to always open the tank valve very, very slowly.

if the burners failed to light. Remove and clean all the burners, as well as the venturi valve on the open of each burner. Spiders like to build nest in the venturi valves.

if cleaning the burners did not solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly. You can find it in any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories, for about $30.00. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please be kind enough to let me know. Thanks and Happy grilling!!

I am scared to death of gas grills -- nearly burned my hair and eyebrows off years ago -- husband always lights it -- he's out of town -- how do I light a Weber gas grill?

Be sure your outdoors in the open. Be sure that the cover is off. Use a large match stick (fire place)or a butane grill lighter to burn the gas. Place the lite match/lighter to the burner head and open the gas bottle. After 6 seconds, If the burner head does not light shut the gas bottle off. Try again till it lights.

Grill seems to flair up, doe not always light with 1st press of the ignitor(or 2nd, 3rd...) and then it does start and a gas filled burst of heat erupts

most grills do not lite on the first press of the igniter so this is a common situation, The best way to prevent this is make sure everything around the igniter is clean especially the burner. I've seen brand new grills do the for their entire service life so don't be discouraged if you can't correct the problem. Get a extended lighter and lite the grill manually, lite the lighter hold it next to the burner then turn the burner control on, Always lite a grill with the hood or cover open!!

Low heat

clean burner holes with wire brush real good... if one burner lites and the next lites, but the first burners flame drops-replace Regulator. Its the hose that connects your tank. tapping metal housing with plyiers the next time it does it will show the plastic wheel inside housing is stuck and cannot allow the gas to flow

Our grill does not lite. There is propane. Could it be the gas regulator? If so how do we test and fix it?

There are several possible problems, but I would start with the basics. I know this sounds silly, but is the gas at the tank turned on?

OK - assuming its not that easy, clean out the burner tubes to make sure spider webs or other obstructions are removed. Re-assemble and try again.

If it still doesn't lite, try manually lighting it with a lighter or match. If it lights fine that way, its likely your cross-over ignition and you can just replace it

Go to the Weber site and download your manual. It will have further trouble-shooting procedures, as well as the correct part numbers you will need for your grill. http://weber.com/help/manuals.aspx

Cant get the burners to stay lite.

Spiders like to create little hidey webs in the tubes of propane grills and stoves.

Take it apart as much as you can and blow compressed air through all of the holes and apertures. You can either take it to the gas station and us the $.25 air machine or buy a can of compressed air at your computer store.
