Providing the CD Rom, is the same software as the sound-card.
If the sound card, is a seperate ( Add-On ) the drivers cd should accompany the card. if there are no drivers with the card. you can usually visit the manufacturers website ( Support centre ) And download the Drivers.
Additionally, you may have to disable the on-board sound-card ( Via The Bios ) and instruct the computer to start up, with the required or installed card.
If you are running an operating system, such as Windows XP, it should automatically detect and install the best drivers for the device. although you may not get full functionability.
If you install from CD Rom, ensure the card is installed first, then insert the CD, and open to find the Icon ( setup.exe Or Similar )

This depends on the sound card in question. Some sound cards have a packaged software you just run off the CD which will install the drivers as well as some software program for the sound card itself.

Some sound cards have just packaged drivers on the CD which has to be installed through "Device Manager" in Windows.

Onboard sound cards have software and/or drivers packaged with the "Motherboard CD"

Most people don't use the package CD drivers as they might be out of date. As there usually are updates for drivers on the Internet. Just need to check the manufacturer of the sound card or the motherboard which the sound card is part of.

Theres no sounds everytime im using media player

1) Go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices > Audio tab 2) Check what's under "Sound playback: Default device" and "Sound recording: Default device". It these fields are grey and non-clickable, then most probably the audio card driver is missing or less probably the audio card itself is broken. 3A) If you have an original CD of your computer, motherboard, or audio card, insert the CD and install the driver from it. 3B) Or alternatively insert the CD and go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware > Device Manager, find any unidentified device in the list, or expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" branch, identify the Audio card > Right click > Update driver... > Install the software automatically > Next 3C) Or alternatively download and install a free driver updater software, e.g. - let it scan and update all your missing drivers. P.S. These steps mentioned above are for Windows XP, but will be quite similar on other Windows versions, too.

Hi...I can't get any sound from my speakers. I've

Uninstall you're current sound drivers. Re-start you're system. Open the link provided by Realtek;
Left click in the box to the left of, I accept to the above. Than click the Next button. Download and install, version A4.06, when finished restart you're system. Check windows for possible hardware updates. Load windows update, click the custom button (Not the express button). Windows will scan you're system. Check to the left, "Hardware Updates".
Download and install any updates found. If there are no driver updates for you're audio and you're audio still does function, than the audio chip on the MB is defective. The audio chip is not removable unlike the bios chip. This can not be repaired.
A work around for this would be to enter you're bios and set the audio to disabled. Buy a PCI audio sound card and install it along with its software.
Many MBs audio chips go bad. The difference between older boards and most newer board like Asus. One can buy a new audio chip from the manufacture. Below is the link to AOpen;
The audio driver software for you're AOpen MB is embedded within the, Intel Chipset Software Installation Driver.

For getting the sound card and the other drivers for your software, first of all you have to know the type of motherboard you are using and the model number of it without that it is not possible to get the drivers. Install the Driver Max software from, it will search for the hardware present and provides drivers links for the related hardware in your computer.

Right click on My Computer either on the start menu or on your desktop it does not matter. Go to Properties, then click on the Hardware Tab on top. Once you are under that tab, click on Device Manager, Locate Sound, video and game controllers. There should either be a yellow question mark type icon. You will need to double click that. It should come up with 3 choice options. Select Yes this time only. Place the CD-ROM containing the Drivers into your computer. If you do not have a CD, you will need to find out the model number and possibly brand name of the sound card you are using for the drivers, then you would download them to a folder some where on your computer. And proceed to choose a destination to where the driver could be located.
