Hi my fridge freezer will run un-till it gets down to temp then will stop running , but will continue to read 3 and -15 on display. after a while it begins to flash. if you turn the power off and back on it will read true temps of about 16. After advice of a fridge mechanic i replaced the temperate sensors, followed by the main computer board , followed by the defrost sensors, but problem continues. Where is the problem,??????

Advise of a good tecnician required after complete verification of all the parts.also check for blockage of ventilations.sometimes a silly problem makes things worse.

,SAMSUNG ARE RENOWNED FOR THESE FAULTS, SINCE YOU HAVE CHANGED DEFROST SENSOR YOU CAN CONFIRM IF THE SENSOR IS WORKING,PUT A MULTIMETER ACROSS THE END OF THE WIRESES AND HOLD THE WHITE END IN YOUR HAND TIGHT, YOU WILL NOTICE THE RESTANCE CHANGING, IF NOT IT IS FAULTY, TO THE RIGHT OF THE EVAPORATOR YOU WILL SEE BLACK AND RED WIRES CHECK YOU HAVE A CIRCUIT THROUGH THIS ITEM, IT IS A THRMAL FUSE, IF ITS OK THEN METER OUT THE TWO HEATERS, IF THEY ARE OK THEN YOU HAVE A POWER MODUE FAULT.

    Hi,

    Based on your description and to recap:

    • fridge freezer will run until it gets down to temp then will stop running - indicates that compressor is good, thermal cutoff switch is good (thermostat);
    • continue to read 3 and -15 on display. after a while it begins to flash - indicates probable computer board error or its sensors;
    • turn the power off and back on it will read true temps of about 16 - this is simulating a reset that reverts unit back to factory default;
    • replaced the temperate sensors, main computer board, defrost sensors - no change therefore not the cause of the problem.
    A couple of things you can try:
    • evaporator on the fridge side may need thawing/cleaning;
    • replace the Evaporator Cover Assembly. Samsung has long replaced this original design/component (Jan 2007);
    • check for fan/blower action. They may be frozen, stuck or providing insufficient air flow.
    Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

    Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    On some fridge this can be normal if the gap between real temperature and displayed temperature is not too big.
    This happens because when you unplug the fridge it reset the computer and re-read the sensor value when you plug it back, displaying real temperature.
    Additionally some fridge/freezer have more than one temperature sensor, you should post make and model to get more information on the specific case.
    If you are not satisfied with the solution you can ask help from more experts.

      Did you also try a complete defrost, it is a basic operation, but must be done whenever there is a problem with the fridge.

      At this point, the only explanation is that one of the newly installed termic sensors is faulty or not properly installed.
      This can happen even with new parts.
      Defective part should be individuated, removed, tested and eventually replaced again.

    The problem must have been solved by the replacement of board..

    i think you must consult the mechanic again for this

    The settings will reset to a lower settting as the fridge/freezer will not be disturbed . So wait for the fridge to run and shut down and it will continue to run in this low mode to save power but to keep the food in prime condition. The fridge alone will not be shut down.

    Kenmore refrigerator stop cooling but fan working

    The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
    The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

    If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

    check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

    You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

    Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

    Fridge condensation - freezer thawing

    OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
    If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
    It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

    (this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

    Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

    Hi just wondering if you figured out the problem with your Samsung fridge yet.
    It is definately a problem with the defrost part of the fridge. After approximately 4 to 10 hours dependent on many different factors it enters into defrost mode to get rid of any excess ice in both the fridge and the freezer. During the defrost stage the compressor will not run. If any fault occurs during the defrost stage the fridge will not restart unless you turn it off and back on again which restes the pcb and takes it out of defrost mode and the timer starts again.
    Please let me know how you went with it.

    All the cooling is in the freezer and the control in the fridge side only controls a damper to let in cold air as needed. To do what you want you have to replace the thermostat to a lower temp rated unit

    RS21 DCNS FRIDGE COOLING FAULT

    There is a fan behind the plastic. This distributes the cold air throughout the fridge. What happens is this fan stops turning due to freezing up. A temp solution is to unplug the samsung for 6-12 hours to allow the ice to melt from around the fan. This is a known design fault. It is easy to dismantle the plastic cover and defrost the frozen fan with a hair dryer, this way the fridge will only be off for about an hour

    Samsung RS2555SL humming noise

    don't know this model specifically, but have had loads of problems with these samsung fridge-freezers. the no water in drinks dispensor is probably due to the water bottle at the bottom of the fridge being frozen. this is endemic with samsung the noise you hear is ice hitting fan. samsung use two systems for fan. the one i think you have is separate fans for fridge and freezer and a separate evaperator for fridge and freezer. take of the back plate of the fridge and you will find the fan mounted in it. disconnect the plug and socket connection. you will probably find ice build up round the fan blade. melt off with hot water. the bar you had showing on the "8" is a fault code - the most common fault being the defrost termination sensor. unless you are experienced, this is not really a diy appliance
