I bought a used laptop with Windows 7 and came with office 2013. The auto update downloads the updates and shows the prompt"installation failed" , 10 or more times. Can this be fixed?

This worked for me, hopefully for you also.
*Fix Windows Update*
Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Windows Update - Automatic
Windows Module - Automatic
If it doesn't download UNLOCKER then delete the folder.

Then download FREE CCLEANER run registry and delete all problems also run CLEANER and delete everything no matter how many problems it shows.

My computer wont load widows it says bootmgr missing with a black screen...... So I can't download anything .I am on another computer..

Hi there,

This generally means one of two things, either your windows installation has become corrupted for some reason which can be fixed by doing a windows repair or reinstalling windows.

Or, your hard drive has failed or is failing, if this is the case you'll need to replace the dead drive and reinstall windows.

I have installed ubuntu in drive C(66gb) with windows xp,giving 13 gb space to ubuntu and rest to xp .now i have deleted the disk partition for ubuntu of 13 gb .when i start computer it shows grub error-17...

when this happened to me on my Vista machine last year, I freaked out until I accidentally fixed it using by booting with my original Vista boot disc, and choosing 'Repair OS'. Try finding a/your original Windows XP install disc and seeing if it will repair and replace your own Windows boot sector. It would be best to find the one that came with your system, or another like it, but if all else fails, just try a hologrammed Windows XP install CD, but instead of 'install', choose 'repair'.

I got my computer fixed and I believe that the person that fixed it uninstalled the webcam and so my built in crystal eye webcam will not work and let me record videos on facebook. Help please!

if you go to

type in device manager
click on it
scroll down and see if you can find the webcam in there
if you can double click it
go into the properties
go to drivers
try to update the driver
if it dont update
then uninstall it
and restart the laptop straight away
then windows may load it correctly when it restarts

Also go to
start programes
windows updates
then do all the updates that microsoft offers you

good luck

if all else fails click on this link go to support/downloads give your make model and operating system then
find the webcam driver and download it

I have the message disk error occurred. I did a diagnostic test and the DST failed show number 1000-0146...can I fixed this without having to buy a recovery disk..and I do not have a windows cd...can it be...

Hi Johnson, I think the best bet would be to reformat your disk and that you need a windows cd or download it from the internet. Are you using Windows XP? This normally happens when you remove a disk from one pc and put it into another pc, it tells you you have a disk error, only with windows XP! Best of luck , Sir John

Gateway error

Can you start it in safe mode? Right after you turn it on start tapping the F8 key. Then select your os and then use your arrow keys to scroll up to "Safe Mode" then hit enter. If you can get in to safe mode, it is either a driver, software, or a virus. So uninstall any new hardware or software and scan for virus.

Packard Bell Easynote L4

This is either the hardrive that has failed or windows cannot find the c:\ boot volume. You will need to start your pc up with your xp cd in and and when it's installed all the set up files press 'R' for repair, this will overwrite all the system files, without deleteing any of your saved files and programmes.
