My webcam wont't turn on its a built in webcam on my Advent Laptop and when i try to turn it on it says no function.

Re-install the drivers.

It's possible that a driver update may help but most built-in webcams are typically auto-detected and generic Microsoft drivers are installed for them in most current versions of Windows.


If that utility does not help, it is also possible that a program is loading at startup that is monopolizing the camera and thus causing it not to be recognized by a second application.

make sure your webcam is installed and functional first . and to do that ..look for it in all programs on start ..and open the AMcap or whatever program it may be related with the camer a...or just open the camera from my computer folder..It should be present there and be able to take picks..
If it works it means it has the driver and it works ..if it isnt it means tyou need to install it first ..Another thing ..depending of the operation system in use..some of the symbols on the keys might work or not...for some it will only work in certain aplications ..and such ..
Another thing to be cleared ios that the web camera usually it is asociated with a instant messaging program in order to work proper...so ..if you need to check its functionality for sure...try to open it directly from the yahoo messenger or mes messenger or skype ..In all instant messeging software's chat windows...there are buttons specially for inviting the other person to see your web cam ..and clicking it ..will start the camera if it is functional ..If it starts black ..and no imsge displayed..it means you need a driver for it ..and this will be on the driver's cd sold with the device ...or on the suport site of the manufacturer..(select model and os)

in win 7 look in the control panel under "devices and printers" it may be in listed in there. if not then you will need to review user's guide or visit the advent's web site for more help or to get a new user's guide.

Try one of the function keys which has a picture of a camera on it. Press FN+the correect F key

try checking that webcam drivers r installed and if there is ny cd with ur laptop then reinstall the webcam driver

If the webcam is broken, then if your laptop is under warranty period have it replaced.
If not then you will have to buy a usb webcam.
Broken Webcam for laptops are preety hard to fix at home. They might get fix at service stations.
