Try this.

In Windows XP
1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4.On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.
5.Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
6.Under Paging file size for selected drive, click to Custom size check box. You can enter the amount of memory you would like to reserve for Virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.
7.Click Set
When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

Any error message displaying low virtual memory has to do with ram. try upgrading the sticks of ram. i upgraded to 1GB on my D400 and it worked like a charm. You probably don't have a virus but it would be a good idea to run a full scan on any virus software you have installed. Also do not format the Hardrive a lot because this could put it at risk of failing.

Its hp pavilion dv 2000 notebook i on power no display but i hear 3 beep sound only how to service

The 3 beep POST code error means there is a problem with the memory, could be faulty or just needs reseating.
Reseat the RAM modules and if this doesn't work then remove the memory module/s and take them to your friendly computer shop to test them.

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers

My HP Pavilion laptop will not boot.

Usually the message about low virtual memory is because there isn't enough RAM and it was using up all the designated space on the hard drive as Virtual memory. (Uses a part of the hard drive like RAM)

That shouldn't account for being unable to boot into any Windows options though.

The one trick with HP computers, you can try is to take the battery out, make sure the Laptop isn't plugged in with an AC adapter then press and hold the power button in for 10 seconds with no power going to the laptop. This is doing a power drain. Then put the battery back in and try to power on and boot up the computer.

When you choose safe mode, does the computer ask which operating system you want to boot into and does it give you the option to choose "Recovery Console"? Or is there an option on the screen with the safe mode options to Choose your Operating System? If not then the recovery console wasn't installed. If you can choose the recovery console, you might be able to replace the failed files that are not allowing the computer to boot into any version of Windows. Unfortunately, the computer isn't reporting which files are the problem, winlogon.exe/userinit.exe/etc.

You can get a hardrive enclosure at a computer store that allows you to put the laptop hard drive in the enclosure, then plug the enclosure into another computer with a USB cable then you can copy the sensitive data onto the other computer.

If you aren't comfortable taking the Hard Drive out yourself, you can take the laptop to a computer store, and they will take the Hard Drive and hook it up to a second computer as a Slave (Secondary Hard Drive) and copy the data over for you

Im having low memory problems im gettin a virtual memory error and it shows that i have 224.mb is there anythin i can do to adjust this or wh do you think?? thank you for any advice you my have jrwh

First, a little explanation: Memory and virtual memory are not the same. Physical memory is what you see when you have 224 MM. Virtual memory is actually a file on your hard drive. You have to reset it to get rid of this message. Here's how:
Right click on "my computer" and then left click on "properties."
Now left click on "advanced." In that window, left click on "settings."When that window opens up, left click on "advanced." At the bottom of this window you will see the virtual memory properties. You will need to click on "change." About halfway down you need to click on "system managed size" and click on "set" just to the right. Then click on "OK"
The paging file will be changed when you restart and you should be good to go.

Virtual memory low

naz2172, Buying memory is always a good idea.
Buy as much as your laptop can handle, to eliminate your problem.
