Well you most likely will need a technician or if you have technical ability........the Y sus board which operates the drivers of the plasma screen.........in some instances it will need both the y sus and the z sus boards.........the repair could range between $300 and $500 . be sure to go to an LG auth service. If you would like assistance on how to repair your self, let me know!!
This problem happens to plasma TVs usually due to the Z SUS part, Z SUS board and Z Drive Board, malfunctioning. The Z SUS is responsible in resetting the screen for the next picture to appear. If it malfunctions, the image of the previous picture freezes and appears as shadow. Usually, the last image on the screen when you turned the unit off appears when you turn it back on before the actual picture appears. The usual fix for this is alignment. That is, adjusting the voltages that powers the boards to an appropriate value that is indicated on the back of the panel. You may need the service of a qualified technician to perform the alignment. I hope you find this information helpful.
This is a common failure in many PLASMAs. One of the boards in the TV blew. Most likely It is going to be the Y-sus but could have also taken out the Z-sus(sometimes called the X-sus) and the Y-drives. These boards put and maitian the picture on the screen. The best way to tell is to check the voltages on the boards to see how extensive the damage was but I would defintly start with the Y-sus.
DO YOU HAVE MENU WHEN YOU HAVE SOUND...IF NO MENU COMES ON..THEN YOU HAVE NO PANEL LIGHT OUTPUT...USUALLY THIS IS CAUSED BY A FAILED Z-SUSTAIN BOARD..HOWEVER...LG(ZENITH)..RECOMMENDS REPLACING BOTH Z-SUS AND Y-SUS BOARDS...Z-SUS...P/N...6871QZH065A....Y-SUS...P/N...6871YH061A...TRY REPLACING Z-SUS FIRST...JOE ACE
