microphone started distorting, then failed completely soon after. It no longer works and other players complain of feedback/distortion,similar to a open mike .

You have a microphone problem. Your voice is not detected by the gadget you are using.

Skype not working

Sir,

Click this link for more information........

http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=35

Also Check........

On a PC with external speakers and also a headset with microphone. Windows XP is configured so that standard audio are external speakers and standard microphone is the headset. Skype is configured to use the headset for audio in and out.

This way one can listen to sound from the PC and from MP3 players through external speakers and if there is a call to make or take, this is going through the headset.

But now there is the problem that the noise level for the headset is too low. Increasing volume has no effect on the headset, it only affects the external speaker's volume.

Now the solution: Going to the control panel and opening the sound setting, go to the audio tab. The external speakers are selected as default. Just temporarily select the headset and then click on volume just below. You can now set the volume for the headset, click OK and click cancel (!!!) on the sound control dialog box. This way the external speakers remain as default output.

Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

thanks
good luck

I hear my own voice when I talk on Logitecs H600 wireless headset

IF you are in Windows 7: -
1. Click "Control Panel" > "Sound" > "Recording"
2. Place cursor over "Microphone - Logitech Wireless Headset Default Device".
3. Right Click and select "Properties"
4. Click the "Listen" Tab
5. Uncheck the "Listen to this device"
6. Click "Apply",. and "OK"
That will eliminate you hearing any nose picked up by the microphone. Others will still be able to hear your voice as long as you have the headset as your default microphone.

I have a Plantronics C610 headset. The caller can hear me, but I can not hear the caller.

Here are a couple of things you can try. I included the link for the user guide below.

Callers cannot hear me.
• Headset is muted. Press the mute button on headset to unmute the microphone.
• Headset microphone boom aligned incorrectly. Align the headset boom with your mouth.
• The USB adapter is not set as the default Voice device. Use the Voice settings in Windows under Sounds and Voice Devices to select "Plantronics C610/C620" as the voice device.

Here is a link to the Plantronics C610 User's Guide.

Good luck from Headsets Direct!

I have a Plantronics monoaural headset Audio 310 which is failing to give me a strong microphone signal - going through Control Panel (Sounds and Audio Devices - testing). I am using a voice to text...

Disconnect the microphone from the headset and connect another microphone to eliminate the possibility that it's bad. If the other microphone has the same symptom, then adjust the the sensitivity of the mic through the sound card properties. Or, try another sound card - it may be bad.

H700 - microphone not working or am I on mute?

Ok here is the answer. There H700 have a small foam windscreen inside over the microphone that over time block the sound. The answer is to carefully open the unit and remove the obstruction and clean residue from the microphone and it will work like new. here is a link to pictures and instructions. http://www.geocities.com/jconkwright/H700fix.html
