I have an SR1000 SR182ONX desktop, but the front of my built in DVD/CD writer/player say SR192ONX. I can't burn or play DVDs. The current driver (TS-H552L) says it is not a writer. I need the correct...

It sounds like your operating system quit seeing your dvd/cd writer/player.
to check this locate mycomputer icon, or goto start and locate computer and right click on it.
a window will open, click on properties, then left click on Device manager you will see all the devices on your computer, and you should see DVD/CD-ROM drives in the list of devices. if you right click on this you have a choice of scan for new devices or Properties, if you scan for new devices chances are it will not find you dvd/cd-rom device, windows operating system very seldom does. so click on properties,
You will see several choices like reload driver, update driver, uninstall drive depending on your operating system. If you have the DVD/CD-rom device cd with the software driver then and only then you may uninstall the driver, so you can reload it to make the operating system see the device after you reboot the computer, then install the driver again... If you do not know what I'm talking about...Take the computer back to the repair shop and have them to the repairs to make the Windows Operating system see the DVD/CD-rom device.

Good luck...

My iolo registry repair damaged my cd rom registry and now my cd rom drive does nothing. What can I do to fix it?

My first thought is to open Device Manager (Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager button). Open DVD/CD-ROM drives by clicking on the + sign next to it, then highlight the drive and press DEL key. A message appears "Warning - you are about to uninstall this device" - click OK.

After it has been uninstalled, go to Action menu - Scan for Hardware Changes and the drive will be reinstalled.

Hopefully this will restore the function of your drive.

I have an HP Compaq Presario SR1500NX and the CD Rom is not reading any disks. Is there a repair program to fix this?

First, go to "my computer" and see if the cd rom drive is listed. If it is not, you may have to reistall the driver. Which operating system do you have?

My HP Compac Presario 5000 PC cd rom drive E door is stuck. Do you know how I can easily fix this?

hello, take a paper clip staighten it up and insert it straight into the little hole next to eject button. This will manully push the tray out, once you have the tray out take out the cd/dvd if there is one in it, pull out the tray all the way out and then push it back in try testing it again to see it works now.
if not try a simple restart to see it fixes the issue, if not;
once pc is up and running again go into device management and uninstall cd/dvd drive and let it re-detect it.
here is how:
right click on "my computer" then select "properties" then select hardware tab, then click on device manager, click on the + sign in front of your cd/dvd rom drive, right click and uninstall, then finally click on Action and select "scan for hardware" option.

tel me know if this fixes your issue or you need more help.
good luck

My cd-rom drive is not working on my computer. I have gone into properties on my computer and it has a warning sign under the dvd/cd rom drive. How do I fix it?

Use control panel - add/remove program and uninstall any programs for the DVD player. Next use control panel - system - hardware - devices and uninstall the DVD player. Leave the device connected. Reboot and when system detects the player load only the driver for Ur os. See if this fixes the problem. If still not work, sounds like time to replace. DVD writers do not have but a coupla' hundred writes and the laser burns out. Designed that way.
