Hi,

Yes it is possible. Two ways:

  • use the recovery CD that came with the AcerPower when new;
  • use a n OEM or a borrowed Windows installer and use the serial number stenciled/printed on the sticker either underneath or at the back of the unit. You would need to re-install some if not all of the appropriate drivers. This would be a better approach since the unit's hard disk could be re-partitioned, reformatted and a clean fresh install could be done.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Step 1:
Which operating system ?

Use an external memory device such as a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer. Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings. Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner. Do not disconnect the keyboard, mouse or monitor. Click the Windows "Start" menu and choose "All Programs." Navigate to "eMachines" and choose "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the "Restore" tab. Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default." Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process. Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart. Use the series of installation prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your Internet settings.

Sorry you are having trouble
method one
goto Start
Goto programs
goto acessories
goto system tools
goto sytem restore
follow the info on the screen
this will let you pick the date to restore to

method two
Boot to the cd/dvd
when asked tell it to format and install

Method one is much easier
May I ask why you want to go back to factory settings? This would be a last step for me in the process of repair

Acerpowerfh keeps turning on and off rebooting why?

it does sound like a boot virus problem. you need to boot into system restore. to boot from the restore partition you need to switch on your pc and repeatedly press either F10, F11, Alt+F10, or Alt+F11. you do this until you see the system restore starts. you will be able to fix windows, or you can do a desturctive restore and restore your pc back to factory settings, but you'll loose your photos and anything saved on the hard drive.

Hi, i have a acerpower s series computer and mine had no sound either. What i did is when i first turn it on the acer logo appeers with a blue background and then it will ask to to press ctrl alt esc to enter setup. Do that. When in setup go to the option to restore to default settings and then save and exit (i think you press escape and then yes). This mght work because theres a setting that disables the onboard sound and restoring defaults will enable this. Do the oposite of this http://www.acersupport.com/desktop/articles/pse_sound_dp10499.html
or go to the acerpower sn support articles if you still having trouble http://www.acersupport.com/desktop/articles/psn_articles.html
Also upgrading to windows xp might fix this aswell. Hope this helps :)

ACER RECOVERY HELP!!!

It comes as part of the package when you bought it.
It's already on the hard drive. Acer recommend you make a recovery disk before you start using the machine.

This is from Acer's Website.

How can I launch Acer eRecovery Management to back up or restore my system?

Solution:
You can press <Alt+F10> or the Empowering Key to launch in a Windows environment, or press <Alt+F10> during boot up. For the Veriton desktop series, you can also press the hardware reset button at any time. For the Aspire or AcerPower desktop series, an Acer eRecovery Management icon can be found on the desktop screen.

Hope it helps.
